Ok I'm gonna say it. I know its what happens in the books, but the central conflict of S2 besing Ilya wanting to come out while Shane isnt ready to is just. No. What? Unless theres a decent time skip, Ilya wont have been in Canada long enough to already have PR much less citizenship. If he doesnt have a passport other than Russian, coming out wont just be carrier ending it will be life ending. How tf is he gonna be out and proud with Shane if he's getting extradited? Queer asylum visas are harder for bisexuals, and theres no guarantee the asylum would come before the extradition. Hell, if I were in Shane's position I would read it as pressure to get married, because marriage is the only way Ilya can be out and also not be in danger without at least a PR to secure him.

Again, this is a hurt no comfort fic. Please read the tags. Like seriously, I cried while writing some parts but I am a bit of a crybaby, so who knows.

Summary of 2nd ch:

It reminds him a bit of the late nights that he and Neil would sit out here with the cats. Sometimes, he would be reading a book, while Neil took a nap. Sometimes, he asked questions. Other times, he joined with headphones and a laptop to watch exy games.

Then there were the times they would just stare at the sky. Usually there’d be ice cream or coffee in his hands - not a cigarette. Sometimes, they'd just stare at each other. He felt the luckiest in those moments. Andrew tilted his head to look to Neil - only to find Kevin beside him instead. He lets his head drop, looking at the ground and the burning embers of the cigarette. Fighting the disappointment gnawing at his stomach.
