Okay listen tell me what you think(/。\)(⊃//‿//⊂
(Just the first part of CNCT Chapter 1 it's not done by a long shot but this is what I have aaaa - this is my Hawks x Abiteth story for those who may not know!)
Hawks wondered if she knew how much the lights made her glow: her hair, her skin, drawing his sharp eyes to the dark shapes of her dress, framing her bust perfectly. He wondered if she knew that it caught the golden glitter in her eye shadow, a dancing gleam on her eyelids, accentuating those soft green eyes.
Soft even when her brows narrowed and her gaze hardened whenever she looked at him.
As instructed, he’d arrived at the venue after eight. Nemuri had approached him earlier, mischief dancing in her eyes, inviting him out to this bar. Initially, he’d said no.
But, with that mischief deepening and a cattish smile curving her lips, Nemuri had informed him that Deviore would be present.
And really, Hawks wasn’t going to say no if Abiteth was going to be there.
Rumi was teasing the pinkette about something, red eyes flicking to him - and then Abiteth was looking at him, her mouth and nose scrunching up. He twiddled two of his fingers at her in a wave, mouth pulling up in his charming smile.
Nemuri was prodding her next, giggling and pointing, loud enough for him to hear:
“He keeps staring at you, Abi-chan~”
“Stop pointing it out oh my god,” Abiteth hissed, displeasure in her voice - but her actions were flustered, fingers combing through her hair. She refused to look at him now, waving her hands at Rumi and Nemuri like they were pests.
To Hawks’ left, he received a nudge, and he looked at Hizashi with a raised brow, “yeah, Mic-san?”
“I mean, go say hi to her instead of staring at her all night, pal,” he gestured with a finger, sipping at his own beer, “especially now that the fans have simmered down and left you in peace!”
“Or don’t, if you’re nervous,” Shota added in that slow drawl of his.
Hawks wet his lips, “I’m not nervous, Eraser-san!”
“Oh?” Shota raised a brow, dark eyes flicking to Hawks’ wings, “those shuddering feathers betray you, then.”
Hawks sighed dramatically, “alright, alright. So I’m a little nervous. She’s quite the hero, you know!”
“And you’re the Number 3!” Hizashi sang, poking the glass of water Hawks had, “maybe if you have a drink for some liquid courage, hm?”
All Hawks could do was chuckle, sipping his water, “you both probably know her better than I do. What does she like to drink?”
“Floral anything, peony is her preference, though.”
“Peony?” Hawks hummed, glancing at her.
‘Oh?’
Abiteth was looking at him - quite intensely, similar to when he had caught her staring at him a couple weeks ago. He’d overheard her once commenting on the fact that even though it would cause drag when he flew, he’d look better with the jacket undone - so he’d done that, and landed at the hero hub in Tokyo for a meeting. She happened to be outside at the time, glanced at him, then looked at him again, wide eyes flicking over his body.
Hawks had liked that. He liked it still in this setting, and he braced his elbow on the bartop to lean back against it, his feathers shuffling to accommodate his posture. He could make out the shift in Abiteth’s posture in his peripheral: she straightened, angling her head just a smidge more in his direction.
He couldn’t stop himself from smirking, knowing that she was admiring him while she had no idea he was aware.
After a few minutes more of basking in her attention, he purposefully turned around toward her so he could more easily catch a glimpse of the change in her features. Abiteth’s eyes widened, and she quickly looked away, mussing up her hair with one hand.
----------------------------------
“Abi-chaaaan--”
“No, Nemi. I’m still miffed with you,” Abiteth cut her off, blinking her eyes rapidly when Nemuri whined.
“Oh come ooooon!!!”
“No,” Abiteth chirped, toying with the toothpick in her martini glass, “you told me it was just the five of us, and then Hawks shows up after we’re already here and knows exactly where to go?”
“I didn’t fib,” Nemuri purred, dancing her fingers along Abiteth’s ribs, making her shudder, “I asked you first, and then I chatted with Hawks. He happened to be free this evening, and that’s when I invited him. And maybe I dangled the fact that you would be here in front of him like yakitori to convince him to come~”
Abiteth rolled her eyes, and Nemuri added, “I think he deserves to spend time with his fellow heroes too! He’s always so busy. It’s rare for him to get a night off, you know…”
‘Well, no I didn’t know,’ Abiteth’s expression softened, and she looked at Hawks again. His clothes were casual and comfortable, lightweight jacket with a stiff collar over what she assumed to be a long T-shirt, and loose black jeans - form-fitting, of course, but comfortable like the rest of what he wore.
She looked away, irritated by the heat in her cheeks, swatting at Rumi when the shorter woman made a series of knowing hums next to her, “you go dance with Nemi! Or get the boys to!”
“Hawks won’t dance but I’ll get Eraser~” Rumi chuckled - then she was off, prancing over to the boys.
Admittedly, Hawks’ outfit reminded Abiteth of the fact that she just had to be arriving at that meeting two weeks ago when he did, and then she also just had to do a double take on that body - because damn, she would be a liar if she denied that he had a hot body.
‘Good god I am not into him, I am not,’ she pressed her fingers to her temple, closing her eyes tightly. She looked up when she heard a glass being set down in front of her - a shot glass, with a pretty pink liquid in it. She perked up, tapping her fingernails along the outer edge, “hm?”
“Sakura sake, Deviore-san,” the bartened pointed with two fingers, “from Hawks.”
She hummed again, grasping the shot glass, between her fingers. She tossed her head a little to look at the blond. Those sharp eyes were intent on her, watching her like his namesake. She felt her cheeks flush under his gaze, that warmth spreading down her throat as she threw back the shot.
“A blackbird told me you like anything floral,” Hawks’ smooth voice was close, and Abiteth sighed softly, briefly twisting some hair around her finger.
“Did he now?”
“Yeah - but they didn’t have peony-anything, so I settled with sakura,” he gestured to her with one finger, holding his glass by the rim with the others, “that’s the flower on your neck, right?”
She straightened, the scowl that had been trying to settle in whisked away by impressed bewilderment. Instinctively, she reached under her curtain of pink hair to touch the tattoo on her neck, “that’s right. Can’t say I expected you to recognize it by the bud.”
“Well, peonies have a pretty distinct bud, I’ll say,” he sipped his drink, casually leaning back against the bar. She couldn’t stop herself from eagerly watching the way his feathers shifted to make the posture more comfortable - and she could stop herself even less from leaning forward against the bar to try and look at the back of his jacket.
Chuckling, Hawks twisted his upper body to show her the back: there were clasps underneath his wings, close to the base, that made room for his wings.
“That design doesn’t seem very intuitive,” she commented, eyes pinched. Hawks straightened himself back out and shrugged.
“Not many people with wings like mine, Deviore-san,” he tilted his head, eyes darting about her face, no doubt trying to understand why her expression soured, “but, I can disperse my wings entirely, so it’s mostly all visual! Easy for me to undo and do-up with my feathers~”
She watched in fascination as he demonstrated, her sour face brightening with her curiosity. She brushed the back of her fingers over his feathers when they puffed up a little bit, prodding lightly at the vanes.
Her hand snapped back when the feather she was touching separated all of its vanes, wriggling at her - and her eyes widened to saucers when that very same feather broke apart into smaller pieces to whisk up and dance around a lock of her hair.
Abiteth lifted the lock up gently to watch the pieces of his feather dance about her hair before Hawks reformed the feather and it tucked itself back into place.
She caught him as his eyes dragged over her form, lingering on her chest - similar to earlier when he was swarmed by fans. He appreciated much of what the women had been wearing, golden gaze lingering just long enough to remain polite before shifting to their faces; the men, though, he didn’t give the same attention.
Abiteth touched her fingernail to the swell of her bust, where his eyes were focused, and trailed it up to her collar. Hawks’ eyes followed, jumping to her eyes. His lids curved with his smile and his voice was low when he spoke, “pardon me~"
“You’re pardoned just this once, Hawks.”
God, he loved it. Loved how she had been so entranced by his feathers, loved that she was flirting back, just a little, ‘and glad she’s not bothered by the staring. Can’t believe I let her catch me.’
