Identification
How does the horse look to contemporary eyes? For thousands of years a fundamental part of life, more recently the horse has been removed to the realms of sport and leisure. And yet these wonderful animals still exert a powerful draw on the imagination. This project explores the horse life through abstract objects. It is to identify the horse and its surroundings through enlarged, square photographs.
Colours and markings, horses exhibit a diverse array of coat colours and distinctive markings, described by a specialised vocabulary. Often, a horse is classified first by its coat colour, before breed or sex. Horses of the same colour may be distinguished from one another by white markings, which, along with various spotting patterns, are inherited separately from coat colour.
