Dare I dream that Coach Jess stays in Seattle as head coach of the Torrent??? I want her to remain in the NHL and keep breaking barriers there (if that's what she wants), but if her ultimate goal is to be a head coach, the PWHL will be a much more welcoming place in that regard.

She's such a champion for women in hockey (and in general), is a great leader, and has a proven track record of positive player development; I would love to see her flex her myriad skills with the Torrent.

Bad news for people who like (in no particular order)

1. Seattle Kraken

2. Smart, kind, competent women in barrier-breaking positions

3. Pretty blondes with great style

Despite the corporate speak in the release, this feels like the first casualty of the off-season revamp/retool/rebuild/whatever they're planning to call this. I'll be very interested to see what happens with the remaining existing (male) assistant coaches.
