This was the only time we saw a coati while we were in Costa Rica, and it just popped out of nowhere right in front of us, trotted casually across the path, and disappeared into the forest on the other side. We saw it for maybe 10 seconds, and thankfully were able to snap a couple photos before it was gone. Very cool to see one in the wild!

These coatis were seen at Mistico Hanging Bridges Park near La Fortuna in north-central Costa Rica. Coatis are members of the Procyonidae family which also includes raccoons.
