The water he was slowly sinking in was suffocating. It was cold, paralyzing and left him wishing he died at once, when the shot rang through the docks. As if it wasn’t enough for Nygma to kill him, he made it pretty clear that Oswald was no more than a stranger, he’d like to get rid of.
In the distance, above himself he couldn't clearly see Edward anymore, his figure became no more than a blur, but he definitely could see two people he thought he would never see again: mom and dad.
Oswald tried to open his eyes once again, tried to focus his vision on the ghosts of his happy days, but couldn’t do it. Yet his imagination had helped him in a way, showing the picture of his parents. His parents still being alive.
Oswald tried to take a breath but it was to no avail: his lungs gave up minutes ago, full of water. He tried his best to move his hands or legs, tried to save himself, yet he was sinking. Faster than before.
In a distance he could hear a soft mother’s voice, but the words she was saying he couldn’t make out. And then, as if the water stopped its moving, he could hear her clearly. As if she was next to him, whispering in his ear.
“This is not a game. You are falling to the point of no return, darling.”
Oswald gulped his saliva, knowing well enough it must have been his last minutes. Even his parents came to him. After all he’s done. He wanted to say something. He wanted to tell his mum and dad he was sorry. E wanted to let them know, that no matter who he became he still loved them. Yet he couldn’t: the water was filling his lungs and he couldn’t even hear his blood ringing in his ears anymore.
Oswald Cobblepot was going under and he didn’t want to stop it, being too broken to fight anymore.
