PINTERESSANT 19/34 – Entdecke neue Musik aus aller Welt Wir haben auch diese Woche wieder einige Songs und Musikvideos gesammelt, die ihr so eher nicht überall um die Ohren geworfen bekommt.
Due to some odd glitch in the matrix, we hitherto missed out on Chicago singer songwriter Cobey., but now that the indie artist has emerged from the shadows to release his first song in four years, we can’t get enough of the bittersweet nostalgia and a beautiful disquietude that crests out of California Dreams. Misty folk and pastoral indietronica come together on the windblown first single from Cobey.’s forthcoming new record. California Dreams explores the questions and feelings of seeing Cobey.’s old bandmates and best friends move across the country. Its melody might be heartbreaking and melancholic, but the gebtke hypnosis the exquisite song puts us in brings on a staggering sense of soothing bliss. Cobey. wrote and recorded the song in part at his home studio, and in part at Chicago Recording Company, after which he collaborated with members of the creative team at Gimlet Media for production. In conjunction with the single release, a collaborative dance music video was made with Chicago photographer/stop-motion artist McKenzie Hanson and Chicago dancer Caitlin Rafferty, which you can view below. We may have evaded the sonic grips of Cobey. previously, but we’ll never escape it now that we’ve been astonished by California Dreams. You can also stream the single on Spotify, here.
