Red Velvet by Ellie Victoria Gale Via Flickr: One of my favourite images from my new editorial Red Velvet. A while ago I decided to concentrate on fine art pieces, but something inside me kept drawing my attention to fashion. I kept trying to ignore it until I did a product shoot with Pearls and Swine and knew instantly I needed to get together a team and set up an editorial using her pieces. The dress is from a beautiful little shop in York called Glory Days Vintage. She sells lots of stunning vintage wedding dresses that are what fairytales are made of! I'll let you in on a secret...This series was shot in my kitchen with nothing but a backdrop support, two pieces of red crushed velvet fabric and one light with an umbrella. I've been without a studio for a few years now so it has given me the push to not only shoot outdoors as much as possible (turns out I LOVE it) but get creative with makeshift studios. There was a time that I thought you needed expensive equipment, a huge studio space and an elaborate lighting setup to create great photographs (don't get me wrong, any photographer doing that is very lucky!) but for the time being I'm really enjoying keeping it simple. It's cosy to say the least, but I wanted to show it's possible to still create on a budget. Don't let money limit you in creating!
