Obituary of Walther Gräve, 20 years old, who died during the attack of the SMS Emden on British facilities on the Cocos Islands, November 9, 1914.
🦈🦈🦈Here is a very CLOSE encounter with silky sharks that made us get back on the boat! 😳 After a dive, our captain spotted a bait ball and had us jump in. A bait ball is when a school of fish get forced into a ball by predators (sharks, dolphins, whales, tuna, etc.) trying to hide from them (being in the middle of the ball is the safest spot). As a result, they get pushed to the surface, where then birds start swooping in from above. So it's a total massacre for the fish, but a feast for everyone else. We got dropped off about 50-100 feet away, as it's not the safest place to be. At first, the sharks where shy, but towards the end they got really close, and silky sharks can bite when curious, so we got pulled out. #diving #adventure #scuba #cocosislands #snorkeling #sharks #dolphins #baitball (at Cocos Islands) https://www.instagram.com/p/BzbbLydnf1T/?igshid=15davght4550x
The Cocos Rosy Lipped Batfish is by far the weirdest fish I have seen. 🦇🐟 We are at 110ft deep in the only place in the world that has these fish, and we got lucky and saw 2 of them. This fish is about a foot long, and as you can see just slowly walks on the ocean floor. The beeping noise was my dive computer freaking out because it was too conservative and wanted me above 106ft (113ft is normal max depth for nitrox at 32%). Anyhow, this was one of the coolest things I got to see in person, so hope you guys enjoy it. :) #batfish #cocosislands #diving #scuba #ocean #deepsea #adventure #travel https://www.instagram.com/p/BzZGBLOH-hw/?igshid=1irlwzjjhrzl8
How close to a Hammerhead do you want to get? 🦈 This is the closest I got to one, as they are usually quite skittish. We were at a cleaning station (where smaller fish eat the parasites of bigger fish), and this hammerhead got curious. For a second I was a concerned for my friend, as that shark got pretty close, but fortunately my aura scared the shark off...LOL! Seriously though, look how fast it moves with just one tail swipe. If it wants to eat you, you are pretty much helpless. My dive knife would just serve to get revenge and bring it down with me, hahaha! #diving #cocosislands #sharks #hammerhead #scuba #travel #vacation (at Cocos Island) https://www.instagram.com/p/BzXB4WRHhpk/?igshid=1a3q2dq05jai6
Me and @yogajlc did something that very few people in the world will ever get the chance to do - go down to 1000 feet (300m) deep at Cocos Islands in a submersible! For reference, recreational diving is limited to 120-130ft (most dives between 30-90ft), so going down 1000 ft is really, really deep. It took about an hour to get to the bottom, and we got to see some weird critters like the Jelly Nose fish, an unidentified type of Moral Eel, Groupers, and a king crab. Even at 800 ft deep, there is a lot more life and light than you would expect. Glad I was able to share this experience with my girlfriend, and check off another bucket list item. #diving #deepsea #cocosislands #marinelife #abyss #adventure #costarica #puravida (at Isla del Coco) https://www.instagram.com/p/BzJYbudpxfm/?igshid=1a8mwc5ujgfwc
Heading over to Costa Rica with my girlfriend and spending a few weeks before my retreat from June 16-22. Going to be diving at Cocos islands, going down 1500ft in a submersible, and doing some crazy stuff. I will be offline for about 10 days, but I will be taking plenty of pictures of my underwater adventures and sharing them once I get back on dry land. By the way, if you want to join me in Costa Rica June 16-22, we still have 1 spot left that you can reserve on Fightseminars.com it's going to be epic! #travel #adventure #diving #costarica #cocosislands https://www.instagram.com/p/ByDUcqUHekn/?igshid=1a5jyn1vw9ibp
