Representation
Saw from someone that Amir may have reinstated that Alastor is in fact AroAce? It has been a shameful and long standing thing in Hazbin to deny Alastor of being Aro. This is pure arophobia. They already lack representation but you seek to take away more? What happened to the LGBTQ+ understanding queerness in media? Is it only for orientations widely acceptable or perhaps only the ones that fit into your allo standards? Let this be set an example of what not to do to an aro/ace character. It not only has subtext but literally 3 people (former creator, Vivziepop, and Amir) confirmed it only for 1 to get fired and 2 to retract their statements about Alastor being AroAce. This recent conservative mindset of "if it is not confirmed by staff or stated in any way in the show then it is not true" would never have allowed LGBTQ+ representation progress as far as it did if many of us were like this back then. With any minority, whether poc, black, lgbtq+, or women, your existence is inherently a threat to this hierarchical society and with the digital age comes it's own discriminations to add to real life ones. Expecting things to be confirmed, represented, or blatantly pointed out to you is a state of privilege, whatever that looks like for you. This goes for race as well whenever you read books or ancient texts and assume the characters or real people to be white even if the descriptions or appearances are far from it. It always transfers to the larger media. People, primarily white, used to think and forced people to confirm (back when we didn't have much to go on but JUST KNEW), and some still think that Vel is a white woman merely due to her accent despite her mixed VA and Vel being Black coded.
Do. Better.
