this image does more for movements like anti-racism than most other statements unironically. the idea that we should "treat everyone equally" is like genuinely detrimental to those of us with less power. it just makes you race-blind. some of us need more support, we need to be elevated ABOVE those with more power (the taller dog) to account for just how disempowered we are.

Equity vs Equality. Equality is not possible since discriminated people aren't treated with consideration. For example, in an equal world, it wouldn't matter what skin color you are and rather if you are for the job. Our world never works in an equal way. Therefore, treating people with equity is the true fairness. Since we know racial bias and a preference for white and white adjacent is how our society runs, we then have to balance things out to try and minimize this racial bias. This applies to social and abstract concepts as well, not just physical or legal things.

I'm not even kidding it's so clear that everyone sees black people and especially black women as some sort of alternate species. I'm getting into doll collection & customization videos because I've been getting into collecting myself and toys and art are supposed to bring me happiness and even there I can't escape the anti blackness. Like... you're lucky if you find a character or doll that's consistently brown skinned and carefully designed in popular brands. Collectors will always favor light skin or fantasy colors anyways. I had to watch a white creator call a custom Garnet doll "dummy thicc" and describe her in progress proportions as "female rappery" why couldn't you just have said curvy? Like hey you know that your disabilities and sexuality and gender and nationality and your own experiences with racism towards your ethnicity does not negate the fact that you can still be racist and express anti-black sentiments.

It seems like every time without fail that a Black Person points out an example of anti-black racism, everyone else gets up in arms and clutches their pearls about it because the accusation is treated as worse than the racist actions, and those people then find any excuse to attack that Black person and distance themselves from that Black person as if the act of pointing out anti-black racism is a social taboo warranting making Black people villainous pariahs for not bowing their heads and swallowing down their discomfort about the constant bigotry lobbed at them.

Me being trans and neurodivergent doesn't negate my capacity to be racist and bigoted. My whiteness in fact ensures that I have been racist at some point in my life, through ignorance and ingrained bias. It's up to ME to do the work to unlearn that shit and not let White Fragility negatively affect the people I care about who are not white. It's on me to do better. Because I feel like kids of color don’t hear it enough: domestic abuse is not a part of your culture. 

A lot of us were raised with the idea that “its normal for wives/children to get hit! it helps them learn– only white folk don’t get beaten when they misbehave”. That’s not true, white people aren’t the only ones who deserve a safe and abuse free environment. Black and brown people can and do have loving families. 

If you’re in a situation where you are enduring abuse and people use your culture to justify it, I want you to know that what they’re telling you are lies.
