...you know, I hadn't really looked at it that way, but you're so right! To be fair I like them for VERY different reasons, but I do love that both pairs literally got on like a house on fire from the start. Like, instant friendship the second they met, both having never been close before then.

With Ren and Martyn it was like, one of them started improving, and the other added to it, and they just kept bouncing off each other until they'd created this fantastic narrative and it was clear that both of them were having a BLAST. And then in every season following that one, they just kept gravitating back toward each other even when they were on opposing teams. They're kindred spirits I swear. I went into 3L after the series was already over, and I had expected to get hooked on Desert Duo since I was seeing it everywhere - but no, it was the Dogwarts boys who caught my attention.

Then you've got the Ranchers, who are both friendly and kind and high-energy and a little chaotic. And they had a hell of an explosive first meeting (even if you count the fact that Tango's game took Jimmy's first ever life during 3L), and they're both just so positive and supportive of each other and, again, I couldn't help but want to root for them because they just had fantastic vibes! And then their reunion during the crossover - like - this shit writes itself man, they really are soulmates.

Hello and good day! I'm not even sure if you are still active and liking Hetalia or not, but do you usually save fanfics? I saw your post recommending A_forgotten_note fanfics, and I've been struggling months to find them! They're on everyone recommended list, and I just had to read their fics (especially "Lost to the Archive" and "In Loving Memory"). If you had them saved, would you be so kind to share them with us? I am intrigued: what is Virgil’s Eyeshadow about? Also just for shits and giggles what is iuyhjgf about?

Virgil’s Eyeshadow: once upon a time Flirting With Social Anxiety released. it was a marvel to this world. and i was so obsessed with Virgil’s literal glowing eyeshadow that i started making a oneshot for it. basically the premise was Roman learns about Virgil’s eyeshadow and starts doing shit to make it happen again. fluff ensues. 

iuyhjgf: ok technically this one’s a cheat. it’s finished but i keep thinking about adding onto it, so it’s kinda a wip too. also, it’s not for sanders sides. it’s an afterlife AU where basically an alive character is trying to convince the dead character to come back to the living world. pretty character introspective--not a whole lot happens. but it was fun!

Hey! So I don’t really have an A03 account to comment on it, so I’m just gonna put my feedback here:

(This is for the 7th chapter in “A heart he couldn’t control” by the way)

WOO BOY THERES A LOT TO UNPACK

The platonic Logince scene is just- 🥺 -it’s really good, and just how you portray Logan overall in this story- I just love that caring nerd.

Another thing is how you handle Roman’s guilt in this, I just really like how it’s done and you can see his the fight to stay determined through the entire search. And he was SO CLOSE COME ON-

Speaking of being close, Remus’s dreams were really interesting. And also I know how it can be difficult (at least from my experience) to write dreams in stories, because it’s always the battle of explaining the scene as an out of world or abstract concept, while it still making sense for the reader. And you did a good job on it! And it was interesting to get more into some of Remus’s story and perspective in all of this, as he’s kinda been put to the side during the story for the sake of plot focus.

ALSO- that one dream that was a memory of Virgil and roman- I swear to god that hurt more than it should have for me. And I’m glad on how you kinda shed a bit more light on what they all were like previously, as everything kinda just got thrown in straight away in the first chapter, and it was just a really smart way to have a flashback-but-not-really to Roman and Virgil being soft and adorable. But GOSH DARN IT it just makes the recent events hurt so much more effectively now. Not to mention roman finding the books Virgil and Logan bonded over and that hurts just as well.

Let’s see...

Oh! And the ending- I swear- for a second I thought (well more of hoped) that it would be Virgil at the door and they could all live happily ever after, but- it being??? Nobody???? honestly it’s so out of context for me to really have any firm suspicions to theorise about.

But what I am wondering is if something happened to Virgil... cause he should have probably arrived back to the kingdom now, yet was noticeably absent from this chapter... hmmm...

But anyways, thank you! I really been enjoying the fic so far and I can’t wait for the next chapter! And I hoped you enjoyed this random long ask!

(Also please excuse me over analysing the story from a writing standpoint, that’s me just being a geek about story-telling and admiring the little writing choices, whenever you intended them or not)

Hi! Sorry this reply is so late. I had a busy week. But thank you so so much for this wonderful comment. Believe me when I say I’ve just been reading it over and over again. It really has made me so happy!

Platonic Logince is my jAM thank you!! And omg Logan is a character that doesn’t come easily to me, so I am so glad you liked how I wrote him! That’s such a relief.

And omG Roman’s emotions through this chapter were a rollercoaster. Just like Virgil last chapter, Roman’s emotional journey through this is super important and I really wanted to put some focus on it. 

Remus’ were probably my favorite parts throughout this chapter. He’s an important character, but a lot of his stuff is really vague and mysterious and short--so it was super cool to see more of him, and I can’t wait to write more for him too. 

Well, the good thing is next chapter is Virgil’s, so we’ll see what’s going on with him :D I already have the next chapter written out, actually, so hopefully it won’t be too difficult to edit like this one was. 

This chapter was hard because it had so many important elements--from emotion to plot to background--and the editing took forever because a.) it was a long chapter and b.) there was an important thing about it that I couldn’t figure out for the longest time. So to get a comment like this on a chapter that kicked my butt so thoroughly is such a wonderful feeling. Thank you so freaking much. And gosh, go ahead and overanalyze! I love doing the same when I read fics, and I certainly love reading comments like this.
