Beetroot and other lattes
Tried a beetroot latte this morning! Just powdered beetroot, oat milk, vanilla, and honey (or maple syrup if you prefer). It was tasty and I’m glad to add it to my no-coffee latte rotation.
So far in my no-coffee journey I’ve tried golden milk/turmeric lattes, matcha lattes, beetroot lattes, and chai lattes. My favorites so far are chai and turmeric, but I like having several good choices.
And I’m delighted by the vibrant colors of all these! Pink from the beets, yellow/gold from the turmeric, green from the matcha, and...well, a sort of pale brown for the chai, lol.
The only thing I haven’t tried yet that’s on my list is a rooibos latte. I got some rooibos tea yesterday so I’ll probably give it a go this weekend.
I may want to find some better quality oat milk, too. I’ve been considering making it on my own, but I don’t know if I want to overcomplicate my life. I checked labels yesterday and the oat milk I buy has some added oils and sugars, which isn’t a major issue, but...I’d just prefer to minimize those things. Is it better than dairy? Hell yes! Is it the best ever choice possible? No, but is there even such a thing as a perfect nondairy milk? I seriously doubt it. I’m probably overcomplicating it. Perfect is the enemy of good, after all.
