"My, miss Maryam, I don't think I've ever seen you this nervous. Surely this can't be any more nerve-wracking than singing onstage?"
You chuckle softly at her anxious expression as you lead her across the yard to the stable. The day is bright and the air is crisp, a gentle breeze sliding under your loose purple hoodie and tugging at your hair. A couple of riders are out in the front ring; one just mounting up onto an antsy grey pony, the other nudging his bay warmblood into a warm-up trot.
You pause a moment at the door, under the guise of kicking muck off your knee-high boots and brushing down your black breeches, to allow Kanaya a moment to compose herself. You smile at her reassuringly, brushing your fingertips against her arm.
"There's no need to worry, Kanaya."
