He honestly didn’t understand it. He’d only really taken selfies with his friends, that’s it, and even that was rare. He didn’t really see a need for it– But it was kind of harmless fun. Well, he thought so until this conversation. Was there some secret hierarchy status to this that he was unaware of? Oh Christ on a bike, he hoped not.
For such a silly statement, the diabetic was expressing great amounts of, not anger, but determination as he spoke. The path to becoming popular was full of obstacles, and not all kids could understand that!! … Actually, not even he could understand how popularity worked in the first place, or why couldn’t he have it. (What was wrong with hanging out with him, huh??) He didn't think there was anything wrong with him (diabetes is not as bad as others say)!!
