Kuantan River Tour
To celebrate the long four-day weekend in Singapore, Microsoft community members from the past and present gathered for a fun road trip to Kuantan to enjoy the great outdoors and to sample the delicious local cuisine.
First brunch of the trip revolves around a comforting pot of Ba Kut Teh (pork ribs soup) from a local store followed by an amazing piece of Pandan Kaya Mille Crepe from Coffee Gallery.
After a hearty brunch, it was off to the docks for a river tour to explore the area in order to catch a glimpse of the local wild life which includes crocodiles and fireflies.
Using a couple of flash lights paired with lots of perseverance and a huge dose of luck, our group successfully spotted all 12 crocodiles residing in the local river and managed to attract beautiful fire flies into our boat.
After a tiring day in the river, it is time for dinner at Satezul which is renowned for its delicious satay. Unfortunately, it was late and we only managed to grab some beef tripe and chicken satay.
Feeling peckish, our group decided to have a quick detour to Ana Ikan Bakar Petai to sample some of the freshest local seafood in town.
While the deep fried prawns and calamari were plump, succulent, and delicious, the main star of the night was the grilled stingray (ikan pari bakar) as it was fragrant and juicy without being too overpowering and spicy, making it one of the best version of this dish that I have tasted so far.
Feeling satisfied, my group retreated back to our home sweet home at Leisure29 Suites to rest for our next big adventure: Rainbow Falls.
