Bessie Love with Dragon Fly Wings - Ziegfeld Follies 1919.

Bessie Love was an American actress who became a star on the Ziegfeld stage. She went on to fame in early films. Petite and pretty, she played innocent young girls, flappers, and wholesome leading ladies. In this exquisite watercolor from 1919, Bessie wears her hair in the style she made famous. She holds a puppet that seems to make the statement that men are like clowns in the company of beautiful women.

Goddard, Paulette: [ACJ] (June 3, 1910 or 1911 - April 23, 1990) From Wikipedia: "A former child model and Ziegfield Girl, Paulette Goddard was a major star of the Paramount Studio in the 1940s. She became a fashion model as a teenager, and a member of the Ziegfeld Follies at the age of 13 in 1924. Her stage debut was in the Ziegfeld revue production No Foolin' in 1926." According to the theatre program, she also performed in the Ziegfeld Follies of 1925 (Jan 1926, Forrest Theatre, Phil PA). She Performed in Ziegfeld's Production "Rio Rita" (1927-1928). She also performed in films from 1929-1972.

This is a follow-up to Barbera's Where They Purr features US cats (and interiors). In his introduction he calls out Lady Penelope as one of his favorite subjects -- there's a reproduction of Sputnik in the living room of her place, a penthouse in New York City's financial district that also includes an adult-sized slide, a lamp that looks like a small horse, and the coolest place for a cat to take a nap I've ever seen. My favorite space is the one in Chelsea, New York, that's filled with more books and cats (three) than my wife would ever allow. The shelves are amazing, but so are the stacks of books that seem to function as furniture. Amen.

Includes a visual table of contents featuring cats, plus a number of photos of each interior/cat habitat, words describing the space and its occupants (ranging from one to nine in number), and a Q&A about the cat(s) in that chapter.
