2, 6, & 13. Also thank you for joining in on my Souls ask game!
2 - How has your perception of the series changed before and after playing any of the games (or after playing them for a while)?
before I played any of the games and was just kind of eyeing the fandom from afar, I had assumed they were something like the Warhammer games or maybe Skyrim because they seemed to attract a similar kind of bigoted gamer bro, the kind that was all over twitter in the aftermath of gamergate. (keep in mind, this was years before anybody was making videos about FromSoft games saving their mental health or digging into the lore, or at least that’s not what YouTube tried to me at the time.) when I finally got to see how they worked and how they told their stories, I was both instantly curious to try them for myself and super baffled that the toxic wing of the fan base was seemingly the largest part of it — the Lore Understanders are much more vocal and numerous than they used to be, thankfully! I definitely equate the games with much more positive concepts now.

6 - Describe your favorite moment of environmental storytelling.
not sure if this counts, and I’m sure I can think of something else if I really sit with it for a while, but Ranni sitting on a big stack of books piled on top of her chair says more about her personality than nearly anything else related to her in Elden Ring and it’s by far one of my favorite bits of subtle characterization FromSoft has ever included.
—
13 - What were some of your favorite narrative revelations in the series?
this is going to sound weird, but one of my favorite narrative reveals in Elden Ring is that the Frenzied Flame ending is, textually, the worst option you can go with. I’m used to seeing stories go fully scorched-earth rather than interrogate the power structures that created and perpetuated all the problems, or that foist all the blame on humanity being ‘born flawed’. if I wanted to adhere to a ‘humans are inherently morally flawed and deserve to be erased from existence’ narrative I wouldn’t have left the religion I was raised in.
and thank YOU for making this ask game, btw! there’s some really great questions here and I hope you post gets a lot of attention!
vampire who gets a lip piercing without considering the healing process and biting people don't exactly coincide and is forced to sulkily drink out of people with a straw
theyre calling me shrodingers undead the way that i have vampiric inclinations but my body has zombie inclinations
economy so fucked that vampires can't even carry around soil from their home properties because they can't afford houses </3
