AVENGERS FANFIC READERS I NEED YOUR HELP
I have been searching for a particular fic for almost a week now. I read it a while ago, and I desperately want to do a re-read.
It's specifically a Captain America fic, one of the ww2 era ones. I don't remember huge amounts of it, but I vividly remember Steve being Jewish and actually getting turned down by Col. Phillips for Project Rebirth despite Dr. Erskine and Peggy fighting for him. So instead he becomes a field medic and ends up getting captured at Azzano with the Howling Commandos. Meanwhile, Bucky gets chosen for Project Rebirth. Also I remember there being a comment about Steve choosing to put his religion on his dog tags and how if he were captured it really wouldn't go well for him (and I think Bucky might be atheist in this one? Not 100% sure on that point though). And Steve gets experimented on by HYDRA, so Bucky and Steve still both end up with some form of the serum (I think Steve stays small though).

Blah blah blah Col. Chester Phillips being live from then and until the future because of bullshit Stark reasons (its what he tells the press when they question him why he still looks the same from his photos in 1940s).
And assumingly he'll lead Shield on and off with Peggy and Howard. Giving full control to Peggy (who is in the same boat because Howard 'accidentally experimented on his friends.' so he could 'go on an extended vacation because im tired of this shit'.
Come the future, hes leading in the background again.
What do you think his breaking point is? The talking tree, the talking raccoon? Seeing Steve weild thors hammer (tho hes secretly fatherly proud). Dealing with Howard Stark's son?

regarding steve's photo that peggy had kept with her throughout her entire career after steve's plane went down: who decided to blow it up for her and put it in a bigger frame?
of course, peggy could've very well done it herself
but i love the headcanon that howard might've done it. or Phillips as a goodbye/congratulations present
i love the idea that howard did it after an intense argument between them (one of many, as of late) and in a gesture with his hands to try to emphasize some point, he'd knocked the picture over and broken the photo
that was the end of that argument and not in the way toward had wanted either. peggy was more then furious and as the door slammed in his face, he realized with a hallow pain in his chest that it was close to the anniversary of steve's death.
as a show of goodwill and an apology, he got the photo blown up for her and left it on her desk without a single word
The fact that Shield Academy exists means that Peggy or Howard or Phillips had to create one to encourage espionage skills. What Im saying is I need a fic where theyre forced to teach
