COLONY NOTICE; ELITE ONLY—RE: RAID INFORMATION RELEASE

Colony Officials,

Thank you for your patience on this matter. As you are all aware, after the looter raid and crusade mission conducted in September this year, two of the looters responsible were apprehended and taken into custody. One was a minor, and spent several weeks in the infirmary being tended back to the health. The elder of the two was questioned by a Colony Official and an NWRF representative, and fortunately, some information regarding the purpose of the raid was retrieved.

Officials in the know and Col22 NWRF Reps have been in conversation concerning this information, and now that adequate research has been done to confirm the legitimacy of various claims, it has been deemed an appropriate time to release this information to the general, Colony Elite population.

Please note that in order to avoid cause for unnecessary worry, this information should not be freely shared at large with civilians. Officials and NWRF Reps are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of this Colony, and do not want civilians to feel they have any reason to panic. Release of this information should be made with consideration, and on a case by case basis, and should anyone come to you with questions you do not feel comfortable answering, please send them to one of your NWRF Representatives.

Attached below is a full summary of the confirmed information we now know concerning the attack.

Colony 22 NWRF

The looter raid of September 2162 was orchestrated by a group of Radically aligned individuals (NWR).

These Radicals were working in the support of a specific movement spearheaded by one of a few major Radical leaders currently known to the NWRF. Though the mission was not personally assigned to them, their affiliation with the leader not direct, it was in response to an open call for action against the NWRF.

Purpose of this mission was to ‘free’ a handful of Infected civilians in order to start building an ‘army’ that would eventually be able to act as a resistance against official government. By their argument, they did not intend the kidnapped any harm, though obviously harm has been done.

These looters reportedly chose to start with the abduction of telepathic individuals, as their skills were deemed to be useful to the Radical cause.

The looters involved in the kidnapping did officially confirm to have been working in tandem with those of the decoy raid.

Radicals involved in the attack were found with partial blueprints of the Colony 22 grounds in their possession, which explains how they planned their method of attack and the decoy raid. These documents are back in Colony 22 possession.

It is assumed that these blueprints were leaked from the inside somehow, possibly through the blackmarket, but it has so far been impossible to trace a culprit.

Many of the adults of this group of looters were involved the decoy raid, the portion of the mission deemed most dangerous, and many of those were killed in the conflict, or captured. A handful however, did escape apprehension. Meanwhile, the looters assigned to do the capturing of the Col22 civilians were mostly minors and young adults. As far as we are aware, none of these youth were harmed in the process of the Crusade mission, but only two were brought back to the Colony.

After several weeks of being closely watched, both have now been officially registered as citizens, sorted into houses and assigned class 3 security. They are not deemed an unmanageable threat to the Colony, but are to be closely monitored. It is the hope of Officials, that these youth will see the error of their ways once they have seen that the situation at the Colony is not the prison sentence they believed it to be.

the missing ✗✗ the second crusade | pax & alex

The meeting had been called quickly; with an urgency and a sizzling heat of blood and adrenaline. Elite had formed a standing circle of tension and concern. Arms folded over chests in determination, in a fight to refuse to accept loss.

And Alex wouldn’t precisely be the first to believe in the intentions or motives of the Reformists who had come and infiltrated the Colony with their indisputable mandates and charges. But whether it be for the purpose of pretences or for some other private agendas, they were engaged in making an effort to retrieve what had been taken from them.

But perhaps that’s where their true differences lied: on the one hand, there was a collection of Colony 22 veterans who worried about the lives of the citizens and friends who’d been taken. They were motivated by a steadfast resolve to maintain hope that those lives could be spared. That they could return to this place they’d grown to consider a home—or at least the closest and only facsimile of one which they had left.

But on the other hand, were the forces of the NWRF, towering in an opposing line, who seemed intent on getting back that which had been taken from them; as if the lives of those telepaths had been property. As if their existing outside Colony control transformed them into a risk. A threat.

Of course none of this had been said, or even implied. These impressions were little more than instinct, than hazy suspicions. Still, as the New Wave Reps stood in the company of the Elites and discussed the second wave rescue mission, waving signs that spoke of their good intentions, it was difficult not to wonder. To doubt.

It wasn’t in Alex’s nature to worry, however, and now was certainly not the time to waste energy hand-wringing. The first crusaders had not managed to send word, and had not yet returned, and there were people worried that should they let too much time pass, the looters would make it off the island with the kidnapped, and would instantly become that much more difficult to find.

Or they would be dead. It was quite possible they already were.

But with the question hanging unanswered in the air, of why these wastelanders would bother taking people off property if they were only planning on killing them, Colony officials remained pretty convinced there was still time—but that it was waning quickly.

They’d asked Alex to lead another group at dawn. He could take as many as four with him—there were only four horses remaining anyway, and though officials hoped the second crusade could locate the first and act as backup, they didn’t think it wise to risk any more people or resources in the process than strictly necessary. It was a matter of balancing risk with rationale.

He’d accepted with a firm nod and glance around the room told him he’d likely have volunteers—some of whom had the glisten of tears behind their irises, people connected to those who’d been taken. They were the desperate gazes of the vulnerable, the emotional. And they would be unwise choices.

“Alright. Assemble your team, Alex. You’ll leave before sunrise tomorrow?” It was the last thing Quinn had said to him before dismissing the meeting. Asked like a question, but Alex understood it as an order. It was the kind of language he recognized from his time on the force, taking direction from his superiors who expected yeses from him, and yeses only. In this case, it didn’t bother him. They were doing the right thing, going after these kidnapped, and he’d prefer to get an early start, anyway.

So as the meeting had dissolved, Donovan had picked Paxton out from the small crowd filtering from the room, a hand falling to rest on his bony shoulder. “I need you to be my right hand on this. I’m not going to take people with too much at stake. You weren’t close with them, were you? The ones taken? Besides—you’re diligent. Direct. You in? ”

Open || The Looter Raid

[Bobbie feels content to have a place in the infirmary, she is doing something that shes actually pretty good at, looking after people while they’re in pain, sick, in need of attention. It seems, however, that Bobbie is destined to spend all of the important moments of life in the middle of sewing someone up, while the action happens outside.

She’s trying her best to clean a wound before the alarms sound, clicking her tongue a bit.] If you hold still, it won’t hurt as much. I promise it won’t take long. [She’s keeping her voice calm, even, reassuring. It’s a voice that she has perfected over the years, hoping it helps calm the nerves of the patients she working on. Before the Falling, it seemed to be quite a bit more effective than it has been in the Colony.

The alarms make her jump, and she feels her eyes go wide as she frantically looks around. She has no idea what this means, no idea what’s happening, and for a moment, she forgets that she’s treating a patient. Her mouth opens and closes for a minute and her eyes jump back to the patient, a sigh escaping quickly before she tries to plant a smile on.] I’m sure someone will be in to tell us what’s happening in a moment. Let’s just... finish getting this cleaned up, yeah? [Though her hand is shaking just a little bit more, she tries her best to go back to her job, focusing on that instead of the ball of nerves knotting itself up in her stomach.]

[ Ireland had rearranged his schedule and the schedule of those who works below him to fit the rest of the day’s appointments into the following days. Then he had dismissed them a few hours early, allowing them time to relax after the terrifying raid.

He was regretting this decision somewhat, though things seemed to be going mostly smoothly. His team was working well, but that didn’t stop him from worrying that they wouldn’t finish in time. They hadn’t finished everything before lunch, so they could end up having to put in a few extra hours to keep up - which basically cancelled out any benefit of ending early the day before.

He glanced at the patient file in his hand and then checked his watch. They were running late, which they simply didn’t have time for. Luckily they had enough paperwork and various tasks that only a few people were standing around and twiddling their thumbs. The door swung open and Ireland turned to face what he expected to be his patient. ]

That was it then. The other shoe, the final straw--- the camel’s back breaking or whatever you chose to call it, it happened for Mouse the instant he heard about the missing telepaths.

In between hushed syllables as people gradually spread the news and their theories to each other, he touched the minds of his brothers--- and then the somewhat weaker link that he had been developing with the Pup in the the Infirmary--- knowing he’d be doing so every hour on the hour from that point on. He wandered pseudo-aimlessly during most of the morning to check escape routes, see that broken window latches in specific spots had stayed broken, that sort of thing. He rooted through the stash of minor weapons hidden in the loose back of one of the lockers--- like a too-dull hand saw, and a knife with a wobbly handle that had been set aside to be repaired--- possibly useful objects that had made their way into a Lost Boy’s pocket over the last year. Incidentals no one would notice, most like. Then there was the illegal food stash, carefully hidden up inside the base of the piano in the music room, and a mitt-full of half-tablets and saved pills from any time they’d been issued, taped carefully beneath a chipped toilet seat in the chapel bathroom.

He’d covered the basics, at least. But the question of the next public step still hung there, empty and frighteningly uncertain. Inaction wasn’t an option, not if people were being taken. He didn’t want to wait to react to whatever the Reformists chose to do to them next, to wake up one day and find it was him they’d gotten the drop on this time--- or Trig. Or Lake. Or any of them.

Mouse had one idea. Not a great one, but maybe enough to start with. He’d still need help though, and he didn’t think he had many allies, really. If Pax had been the sort to actually do anything--- with his tech know-how and his Praeteria--- he would’ve done it already. Andee was totally out. She’d never support him, especially not since his literal skin was going to be involved, and therefore at risk.

Once he saw Trig in the dining hall the morning after, he barely had to say a word to confirm that the younger boy knew what to do if something went pear-shaped on them. And so all that was left was to let his feet take him to one of those corners of the Hub he didn’t generally frequent. Not that he had anything against those who did, it just... They tended to overwhelm him.

He found the pale face beneath appropriately crow’s-wing hair. “Oy.” His eyes traced the tattoos on Corbin’s arms. “You busy, mate?” he added with a playfully fond grin. Mouse moved closer, flashed his wrist up to eye level. “Quick question, clearly nothin’ nefarious---Whaddya know ‘bout the machines they used to give us these?” The look he gave broadcast mischief, with no hesitation.

the decoy raid || pax & orson

It all happened so fast.

One minute he was being “asked” to do an extra round of groundsweeping alongside Pax—probably because they still didn’t trust him not to ‘run off’ again, because they still didn’t fucking believe him that he’d never ‘run off’ in the first place—and he was agreeing because it was one of those offers he wasn’t permitted to turn down. They were keeping up the pretence of free-will, only there wasn’t one.

He probably shouldn’t have been surprised by this. And he didn’t have the patience, or maybe the nerve, to ask why him. To point out that it seemed awfully convenient and shouldn’t he be finishing his training first? That’s what he and a handful of other survivors were all out here on the fields to do, anyway.

But he should have known better than to think that he’d gotten away without any punishment after Pax had pulled him up from the hole he’d fallen into and taken him back to the Colony. They’d put him in the infirmary to check for a concussion, and called it a day. And he’d accepted it probably because he believed that’s what he was owed. He hadn’t run. He’d been on a chore rotation and he’d been left. Forgotten about. Abandoned. It was the Colony’s own God damn fault that they’d had to send Pax on a one man search party.

So he was being escorted out the side gate, Paxton on his heels as his babysitter, apparently—though he wouldn’t complain about the company. He’d rather venture outside these walls with an ally, than by himself. Ally? Friend? Was Pax a friend? He certainly wasn’t foe—and Orson had felt somehow indebted to him since the ‘search and rescue’ incident—but he didn’t consider anyone a friend, and that was less because he didn’t trust anyone and more because he didn’t trust himself. Couldn’t see himself knowing how to get close to anybody, not from any angle. Friends were people you talked to. Friends were people who trusted you and whom you trusted. Friends were people who knew you. No one knew Orson. Not really.

The alarm had sounded just as he was stepping out the gate. For a moment, he’d actually thought it was some kind of cruel joke, or moronic mistake—like Important Person A had forgotten to inform Important Person B that civilians would be leaving the grounds, and now he’d be in some kind of triple-loaded trouble.

Seriously, Orson was a quiet person, even in his frustration, but the way things were going recently, he was almost ready to boil over. Actually earn punishment for once.

And then he saw them. He couldn’t tell how many, at first, but in his shock and rising panic, they seemed like a lot more than the six that they turned out to be.

The first thing he remembered noting about them was their filth—it was like a bone deep filth, one that you could tell was so just by looking. They were hard, grimy and worn at all their edges, cuts fading and scabbed across skin the faded colour of earth and sweat. They were gaunt, all of them, starvation in the hollows of their cheeks and desperation in their bloodshot eyes. They wielded weapons over their heads, taut muscles strained and spring loaded, cries of war flooding the wind.

And they were so close. Orson hadn’t even seen where they’d come from, or how no one had noticed them until now—but maybe they had, because suddenly there was a wall of security Elites forming at his back. A presence he felt more than saw, because he was too busy staring like a deer in headlights, rooted to the spot and realizing he had no weapons, no means to protect himself, and no idea what to do.

Despite months of training and hypothetical ‘games’, apparently none of it translated when it was the real thing.

GENERAL UPDATES + EVENT UPDATES

Hey team!

Exciting to see such a thorough dash and so many new interactions! I could not be prouder of you guys!

So I’m working the next two days on set, so I’ll be MIA, but I will be around this weekend to tend to applications etc etc. Also, please send in your rolls! I’m going to try to get those done this weekend as well, so please do so! If you are unsure how the rolls work, please visit the info page about it here. Don’t be afraid to send us a holler if you have any questions!

Additionally, concerning the EVENT since I’ve had a few people ask me about it. As you may or may not have been following, Alex and Pax are part of the second crusade that has gone out in search of the missing civilians since three days had passed since the first crusade had left and they still had not heard word from anyone. More about that last event update can be found here.

The crusade itself is being written out in Para form between Alex and Pax, and that thread can be found HERE: this is a good one for you to follow, so you know what’s going on with the event.

Though we will not make you wait too long until we can move forward beyond this second part of the event, please hold off a little longer from doing further along the timeline than the second crusade’s departure. So far you can say they’ve been gone about a day, and are working into the second day of their absence, but that’s as far as you may take the timeline until the third event update has been posted.

I will try to get to that this weekend. Assuming I can write my butt off with Cat, we will try to get the para to at least the main chunk of action, so that I can post a summary and a release of the timeline by the end of this weekend. Until then, please sit tight and I’ll keep you posted!

Finally, Mika will be dropping Nolan Keyes for the time being, and though his bio may not be reopened as he was Jess’ bio, he will be added to NPCs incase she decides to pick him back up again. So for now you may unfollow his blog here [x].
