So Colby Jack, who knows he's not supposed to be on the counter, is a naughty boy and tried to jump up on the counter yesterday anyway. Unfortunately, he couldn't see the pan that was sitting up there. We think he tried to jump up, caught the edge of the pan, and pulled it down with him. He scampered away and, because cats are good at hiding things, we didn't notice any problems at first. But then I noticed he was holding his tail weird. The pan must have fallen directly onto his tail and crushed the vertebrae, because there's definitely a crook in it and it feels broken :(. The earliest appointment we could get was for this afternoon, and I'm pretty sure they're going to have to just remove the end of his tail. He's gotta be in so much pain, but every time I go to pet him he just purrs away, my sweet little buddy.
