Genetically an asshole
From this AU
"You know what? I do belive that you're Five, because you're just as much of an self important asshole as you were when we were kids." Five gave the one called Diego a glare and a strained smile, trying to remind himself that this was a conflict where murder wouldn't be a preferred solution. "Cute." He leaned his head slightly to the side, his smile widening, like a predator showing teeth at it's prey. Diego instinctively took a step back and Five let out a cold, but amused laugh. It ran sharply against the walls of the great hall.
The Hargreeves siblings flinched, all shifting into defense mode, however, he of all people knew that all it was was a sign of vulnerability. They were prey to him and by putting up their defenses they were acknowledging that. Accepting it. Luckily for them, they were of more use to him alive. That didn't mean he couldn't have a bit of fun though. After all, he was so rarely allowed to play.
"So," The one who was called Vanya spoke up. Five's sharp eyes quickly shifted to her. She looked a bit weary, nervous, but there was something else in her expression. Something he wasnt quite familiar with. "You don't remember... anything?" He laughed a bitter, short laugh. He had already told them a thousand times. "No, I don't." Vanya's expression shifted into something else he couldn't quite read either. It wasn't fear or terror. Not even anger. His curiosity was peaked as his eyes bored through her, trying to read her every movement, every glance. Her body language read as nervous, anxious even, but... her face. Her eyes... there was more to it than that and he just couldn't read it. Frustrating.
He wasn't used to people expressing more complex emotions than fear, terror, panic, anger- all that typical stuff you'd see in someone before they were to be killed. This, this was something else though. "I'm sorry." He blinked in confusion, for a moment thrown off, but quickly collected himself again. "I'm sorry that you don't remember." She elaborated, apparently noticing his confusion. When did he become that easy to read? For a quick moment he felt vulnerable.
He forced aside the urge to kill her and instead decided to have some more fun. "Well, I count my blessings that I don't remember. The whole lot of you seem like a waste of time." He gave her a wide smile, which he really had to fight to not turn into a frown as her expression once again shifted into something unreadable. It wasnt just frustrating at this point. It was infuriating. Maybe they weren't of any use to him? Maybe he could just kill them here and now.
"Wow, you just really don't care about others." Five was brought out of his own thoughts, as his focus for the first time shifted to the one called Klaus. Five scoffed, another wide smile spread across his face, his teeth appearing sharp. Dangerous. "Well, no, I don't. It's a genetical thing." Diego scoffed back at him at that. The audacity. "What? You're genetically an asshole?" Five eyed him. From what he had read in Vanya's book Diego had been the more rebellious child, but with a soft side. A weakness. He was a little mommy's boy. Seeking comfort and praise. Both things a sign of weakness and insecurity. He laughed a hollow laugh. "Yeah, I'm genetically an asshole." They'd never understand. Not that he wanted them to.
