happy new year,
Dear friends,
Firstly, I'd like to wish you a Happy New Year. It's been nice taking a break from my musical activities to eat great food, watch shit TV and reflect.
2014 was a huge sigh of relief. In the preceding years it had been a struggle to make ends meet and keep the inspiration flowing but this year gone I've been lucky enough to write with some great artists such as Orla Gartland, Jermain Jackman, The Overtones, Travis Is A Tourist and one of my favourite cowriters Gita Harcourt's new project 'Lock'.
I was honoured to help in the production of my good pals and occasional Cold Crows Dead bandmates The Xcerts 3rd LP 'There Is Only You' which I must say is their best yet. Also had a great time flexing my sonic muscles on singles/EPs by Thom Cross, Moon Brother and Jacko Hooper. Last year also saw the release of some of my cowrites on releases from Charlie Simpson, Saint Raymond and Si Cranstoun.
I left the studio 2 or 3 times (new personal best) to perform live with my side project Cold Crows Dead and as a backing musician for singer songwriter chum Luke Sital-Singh (a few UK tours including BBC 6 Music festival in Manchester and iTunes Festival in London supporting Robert Plant).
I'd like to apologize for that self-indulgent bore of a round-up. It reads like one of those family letters where the parents bragg about their high achieving offspring's exam results. I got a 'U' in A-level Maths if you're asking. But I must thank all of the aforementioned names as well as my beautiful wife, my management. family and friends for their support.
2015 is going to be even better (for me), cause I'm taking some time off to record a new album of my own. Check out my next blog.
Goodnight, wishing everyone all the best for 2015. P34C3 Px

I've been listening to this track a lot this day. Happy new year folks.
Loves In, Loves Out by Cold Crows Dead
Don't ask me why but I always listen to Scottish bands around this time of year, maybe their accent seems festive to me, I dunno! Anyway, Murray Macleod is the frontman in one of my favourite indie rock bands The Xcerts and Cold Crows Dead is project between him and musician, producer and former Beach Boys collaborator Paul Steel. But yeah, Murray sings in a strong scottish accent and with their debut record covered in strings, horns, bells, theremins and choirs, there's a very wintery, festive feel to 'I fear a new world'. This is a woozy and lush sounding record covered in melancholia and darkness as it tells the tale of a man who has murdered his wife and is swallowed by the earth and sent to the afterlife, each song acting as a different scene to the people he meets in the afterlife. It sounds weird, it is a bit weird, but is completely wonderful and refreshing that such a record has been made! This track is one of my favourites, a really beautiful track with lovely string arrangements and Xcerts-esque guitar bends.
looks like the devil has won oh no the war has begun and all my love is gone but I don’t care but I don’t care
