Hey guys, since flu season is picking back up again I thought I would offer some unasked for advice for those of you who might be getting the sniffles.
1. The minute you feel your symptoms starting up, hit your system with vitamin C. Take Airborne, or drink orange juice, or take some vitamin C supplements. Oranges, strawberries, and many other fruits are high in vitamin C. Doesn’t matter what you do, just start taking it to boost your immune system.
2. At the same time STOP EATING SUGAR. This is even more important than the first once. Eating 100 grams of sugar (which is easier to do in a day than you think) depresses your immune system for up to 5 hours. The reason for that is because vitamin C binds to white blood cells to help them do their job. Sugar is remarkably similar in shape and can do this as well, but the difference is that sugar does NOTHING to help the WBCs and just makes your immune system less effective.
Getting sleep and drinking water are also important but if you can’t manage that, then these two things will do you just fine. I’m able to get over colds in 3-4 days by doing this, and I know I’m not getting the sleep I need or drinking enough water (I would encourage you not to follow my example in that respect but who am I kidding you’re going to do it anyway.)
Stay healthy friends!
