Heidi Makes: Overnight Oats
Heidi Makes: Overnight Oats
Overnight oats sounded horribly disgusting the first time I heard of them. My best friend Lauren swears by them, as her husband makes delicious food 110% of the time. I think I might have tried some at her house one day, but overall I wanted to stay very far away from cold, waterlogged oatmeal. Until I made some myself. Now its been a process; I love hot oatmeal, so adjusting to cold oats seemed…

What you need:
1/3 cup rolled oats 3 tbsp chia seeds 2 tbsp hemp seeds handful or 2 of raisins (what ever dried fruit you like) 2 or 3 tbsp carob powder 1 tbsp cacao powder 1/2 tsp cinnamon 2 cups non-dairy milk of your choice
Put all the dry ingredients into a mason jar and shake it up a little. The night before you want to eat this add 2 cups of milk and shake it up, shake it like crazy for about 1 minute. Put it in the fridge and let it "cold cook" over night. In the morning take and shake it for 1 minute again. Eat it cold, let it warm up, eat it from the Jar or put it in a bowl. If you want to add some fresh fruit to it the night before, go for it! Some times I add banana or mango, but you can put what ever you like.
Enjoy!!
