5 things I like about myself
So I was tagged by the wonderful lady-ofmischief to write 5 things I like about myself, publicly, and then send this to my 10 favourite followers. I don't often sit and think about what I like about myself so this'll probably be good for me! Here we go:
1. I like that I always try to see the best in people. It can be hard to do sometimes if someone makes a bad first impression but I pride myself on giving everyone a chance and I think it makes me a little less bitter to focus on the good in people.
2. I like the fact that I enjoy knowledge and learning things. I get excited learning about stuff and improving the knowledge I already have about loads of different things and I'm proud of that. Knowledge is cool. (Nerdfighters for the win)
3. I really like my singing voice. Singing is one of the things that makes me happiest in the world and I know I'm good, and I like being able to sing something, even when no one else is around, and think, 'Man, that sounded awesome!'
4. I like that I'm not afraid to challenge someone if I disagree with them. I used to be, but I've learned a lot (especially since joining tumblr!) and now if I'm in a group of people and someone says something that I think is wrong, or offensive, or if it's just an opinion I disagree with, I know I can call them out on it, and I like that I know I deserve to have opinions.
5. I like that I don't let other people influence my actions. I'll have to give an example for this one: I'm 21 and still a virgin, and never been in a relationship, which at uni can be hard and a bit awkward if people start talking about their sexual history etc. I know I could have felt embarrassed and just got into a relationship or slept with someone so I wasn't the odd one out anymore, but then it would be doing it for other people and not for myself, and so even though it can be awkward and lonely, I'm waiting for someone to come along without forcing it or being someone I'm not, and I'm really proud of that, because it means I respect myself. I like that.
Wow, that was quite hard to do! I'm not used to thinking about what I like in myself, let alone writing it and posting it publicly! I guess that's the point of this though, to get you to think about all the good in yourself without feeling like you're bragging, because thinking about the bad in yourself can be easier. And I think liking yourself is a really great thing to accomplish, because you'll ultimately be happier and respect yourself more.
Go forth and think about all the great things about yourself because THERE ARE SO MANY!
