IT’S ALMOST TIME...

Good evening, lovely people!

It’s almost time.... 

Tomorrow marks the day we’ve all been waiting for—Day 1 of Cool For The Summer, our Coldflash Summer Weekend event. 

I’m very excited for everyone to start revealing their creations 👀

In case you missed the memo, here’s a quick rundown of the details for the event!

The event runs from July 30th–31st. The list of prompts can be found here.

1.      Remember not to start posting until the event begins! You can start sharing your contributions on July 30th. If you’re a little behind schedule, don’t worry—I’ll continue to monitor the tag for a short time after the event is over in case anyone misses the deadline!

2.      Make sure your work includes the prompts! There’s plenty of room for creative freedom, so hopefully these suggestions will spark something for you… pun intended. And if not, free day will allow you to post whatever your heart desires. Time to dust off those plot bunnies!

3.      The tag for this weekend is cfts2022. Remember to tag all your works so that I can share them here on the blog, and post them to the AO3 collection here.

4.      Please use appropriate tags. If your work is nsfw, or contains themes that might be upsetting or triggering, please make sure to tag it as such. We want everyone to be safe and enjoy themselves during this event, so be mindful of your fellow users and make sure to leave warnings if necessary!

Alright so you may know this from my reblogs, but I’m a fan of Coldflash, a ship from the Flash with Captain Cold (Leonard Snart) and the Flash (Barry Allen). The fandom community hosts an event called a Bang (Big or Mini) where authors and artists create something centered around the ship, and in my limited experience (read: one bang, this one), the artist and author work together and the art is connected to/based off of the author’s fic.

So I signed up for this even though I knew I’d be busy (and I have been and still am) and ended up doing a 15 hour stream getting it done (upside: new record for me, downside: I am  t i r e d) A bit of that was me doing warm-up by shading something else (since I haven’t drawn or streamed in a long time) and taking breaks to eat, but yeah, pretty long.

Anywho, this is my piece for the Bang, and the fic I took inspiration from was @pieprincess-andthe-fallenangel‘s Priceless (https://archiveofourown.org/works/27787123). I’m pretty nervous about this, I think I need to practice these two more before I’ll be confident, and I don’t really draw actual people all that often, I usually draw characters, which means my drawings don’t have to be quite so realistic. I used like 6-7 different refs trying to be as realistic as possible. I forwent shading, which kind of makes what’s supposed to be Len’s leather jacket look more like a jean jacket or something, unfortunately.

I’m rambling a little, I apologize. To sum up: Coldflash is awesome, the people who managed the Bang are awesome (many thanks and accolades for them), Ellie (PP+FA) is awesome (you should totally read their fics if you like good writing), and I need more practice in people (and sleep, sleep is good).

The time has come, we're stepping down.

Dear Coldflashers, we regret to announce that the three of us are retiring as moderators of the blog. We've had a blast with coldflashevents but the time has arrived to move on to other fandoms and pass the torch on to another.

It goes without saying that the talent in this fandom is incredible and it's been a pleasure to run all these events. We really hope that the blog continues and thrives under new management.

So this is us putting the blog and all of its materials (gmail account and AO3 collection) up for adoption.

To the Candidates:

You should (preferably but not necessarily):

Have some experience running fandom events

Have some basic banner making skills

Know how to edit tumblr themes

Be organised

Communicate well

Love Coldflash!

But we'll consider all applications!

COOL FOR THE SUMMER | DAY 2

Hello, everyone, and welcome to day 2 of Cool For the Summer, our Coldflash Weekend Event!

Thank you to everyone who’s participated so far! We’ve had some amazing works posted, and there’s still more fun times to come...

Calling all Artists - Time to get your Coldflash on

Author sign-ups are closed for our Coldflash Bang 2020 now but we are accepting Artists sign-ups until 22nd August

And we would love more artists!

What qualifies as art?

Not just traditional art! An artist for this event is anyone who produces fanworks that aren’t fic - which is gifs, graphics, playlists, manips, sculptures, icons and more!

Fanworks

For this event we will be accepting all kinds of fanworks as art. Here are some rough guidelines:

Traditional art: Paintings, sketches, lineart etc, black and white or coloured, at a size of at least 500x500 pixels

Graphical art: Digital drawings using software or art programs, black and white or coloured, at a size of at least 500x500 pixels

Manips / Moodboards: Photoshops and other digital art creations using clean high definition imagery without watermarks. 1 x manip with obvious manipulation or 3 x moodboards

Gifsets: At least 5 gifs of high definition footage with some level of special effect or manipulation

Wallpapers / Icons /  Banners:  At least 5 icons of 100x100 each, 1 x wallpaper covering an entire screen, or 3 x banners

Videos: A video consisting of high definition video footage and audio, at least 1 minute or the length of a full song

Sculptures / Costumes / Physical creations: 1 sculpture, 1 custom made garment or 1 3D prop

Music: A playlist with at least 10 songs and some form of unique cover art, or a recording of an original song with lyric sheet

And this is just a small list, if your art isn’t listed above, that doesn’t mean it’s not valid for this event!

So if you’re a creator who loves Coldflash, we’d love to have you. There will be lots of Coldflash fics to choose from and we can’t wait to see what everyone produces!
