The Collection is now open and you can now begin posting your fics into it!

Posting

Please give your work a title and summary, tag your works appropriately and include either #Coldflash Mini Bang 2020 or #Coldflash Big Bang 2020 in your tags

Reveal dates

Everyone should’ve received their reveal date by now, if you don’t know your reveal date, please contact us asap.

Once your fic/art is complete, please contact the Mods to tell us so that we have the go ahead to reveal your work.

Reveal day

On reveal day, we will reveal the fic in the collection.

Artists: Please post your art on reveal day to the platform of your choice and/or give your art to your author so they can embed the artwork in the fic.

If you’re only posting the artwork outside Ao3, then please provide your author with a link to your artwork so that they can put it in the notes of their fic and credit you.

Authors: Once your fic is live, we recommend giving your artist a link to your fic so that they can add it to their art post.

Basically, as long as the art and fic links to eachother in some way, we don’t mind how you do it.

Reblogging

If you have a tumblr and will be making a post for your work, please mention @coldflashevents and tag with #Coldflash Bang 2020 so that we can reblog

Late reveals

If your works won’t be ready by your reveal date, please tell the Mods asap so that we can rearrange your date.

Summary

- Please post your fic to the collection by 29th Nov - you can still edit

- Please tell the Mods once the fic/art is complete (preferably in advance of your reveal day)

- Tag your fic in ao3 with either #Coldflash Mini Bang 2020 or #Coldflash Big Bang 2020 in addition to normal tags

- Artists must only post their art on reveal day

- The Fic and Art should link to eachother somehow

- if you’re not going to be ready by the reveal day, tell the Mods asap

Date Claims and Final Check in

Hello Bangers,

We’re approaching the final leg of the event! And with that comes some instructions on date claims.

Date claims

Participants will have from 2-8th November to contact us and give us their chosen reveal date for their work.

The reveal date is the date we will make your fic and artwork on AO3 ‘visible’ to everyone; this is to stagger the Coldflash content.

Authors, Artists, please confer with one another and make sure you’re in agreement before sending us your reveal date claims.

The reveal dates available for claims are:

30th November - 6th December

There are approximately 3 slots available for each day of the reveal week.

We recommend that if you’re posting a multichapter fic that you choose one of the earlier dates. This is so you can post a new chapter of your fic each day of the reveal week. Or just post the whole thing in one go - it’s up to you.

If you’ve completed your fic or are very close to completing then we recommend you choose a midweek date.

And if you’re a proud denizen of Procrasti-Nation and need all the time you can get, then we recommend you choose one of the later dates in the week.

Dates are first come, first serve, so the quicker you respond, the more likely you will get the date you want.

Please give us 3 separate date options (per work) in order of preference, and we’ll attempt to match you with your first choice.

Final check-in

2-8th November will also function as your final check in so when you’re giving us your date claims, please also give us an update on your project, any word counts, how the artwork is going, and any issues.

We recommend that Authors and Artist pairs get in touch with us together, as this will help us keep track of everything.

Communication

There have been a lot of instances throughout the event of participants dropping off the face of the earth and their partners struggling to make contact.

Just a reminder that this is a joint project, and it’s only going to work if there’s clear communication. What we want to avoid is getting to the final week and starting to receive worried emails.

If you’ve tried everything in your power to make contact with your partner and they still won’t respond, then please tell us asap so we can intervene.

Coldflash Bang 2020

Hey guys,

After seeing the amount of interest and people talking to us on here and in discord, we are considering having our next Coldflash event for this year be a Bang.

It would likely involve a mini-bang (1-5k) and a big bang (>5k) to choose between, for authors, and for artists we would be accepting line art, graphics, manips, gifsets and videos.

If this is something you’d be interested in, please like and/or reblog this post so we can gauge potential numbers.

And of course please offer any suggestions in the notes or as an Ask.

If we don’t hear from you via message or email, we will assume your fic isn’t ready and it won’t be revealed. Please keep the mods informed if you think you’ll be late so that we can reschedule you if need be.

Reveal week starts tomorrow, and we hope you’re all as excited as we are to see all these amazing works. :D

Calling all Artists - Time to get your Coldflash on

Author sign-ups are closed for our Coldflash Bang 2020 now but we are accepting Artists sign-ups until 22nd August

And we would love more artists!

What qualifies as art?

Not just traditional art! An artist for this event is anyone who produces fanworks that aren’t fic - which is gifs, graphics, playlists, manips, sculptures, icons and more!

Fanworks

For this event we will be accepting all kinds of fanworks as art. Here are some rough guidelines:

Traditional art: Paintings, sketches, lineart etc, black and white or coloured, at a size of at least 500x500 pixels

Graphical art: Digital drawings using software or art programs, black and white or coloured, at a size of at least 500x500 pixels

Manips / Moodboards: Photoshops and other digital art creations using clean high definition imagery without watermarks. 1 x manip with obvious manipulation or 3 x moodboards

Gifsets: At least 5 gifs of high definition footage with some level of special effect or manipulation

Wallpapers / Icons /  Banners:  At least 5 icons of 100x100 each, 1 x wallpaper covering an entire screen, or 3 x banners

Videos: A video consisting of high definition video footage and audio, at least 1 minute or the length of a full song

Sculptures / Costumes / Physical creations: 1 sculpture, 1 custom made garment or 1 3D prop

Music: A playlist with at least 10 songs and some form of unique cover art, or a recording of an original song with lyric sheet

And this is just a small list, if your art isn’t listed above, that doesn’t mean it’s not valid for this event!

So if you’re a creator who loves Coldflash, we’d love to have you. There will be lots of Coldflash fics to choose from and we can’t wait to see what everyone produces!
