"Shadows are the historians. They speak of the owner's lives and deeds." It's up to the owner as to whether or not the shadows spoke well or ill of them.
"Sometimes I understand, and sometimes they speak in languages lost to time." Everyone's shadow was different, but the silent ones unnerved him the most.
"Perfect timing!" A laugh was given, footsteps picking up in to a jog as he went to the entrance of the home and held out the box. "You've gotten quite alot recently, huh? A couple of seconds later and I would have missed you completely. Can you sign here, please?"

"The old gods died one by one, snuffed out like candles by a force that cannibalized their essence...it sleeps." He tilted his head and started to smile. "It won't wake in your lifetime."
Probably not the most encouraging thing to tell someone but he wanted to keep it positive.
"The only sin I'll commit is running with scissors."

His voice was soft as he sang for them; he wanted it to be soothing. Cole needed to be a calming presence right now, nothing more.
"Follow the path, to where no one's ever been. Don't turn around, until you reach the end. Across the sea, and beyond to distant lands. A world awaits, so don't make any plans, there you go. There you go."

Dragonlings. He hated having to get rid of them but it was that or be eaten.
He glanced down at the bite on his leg and grimaced. It could be worse, he guessed. It was just teeth marks; they didn't tear away any skin and muscle.
He'd take it.
However, they did rip his leathers and he inwardly sighed. That would take time to fix. Did he even have strong enough thread on him to fix it once they made camp? Or a needle? Maybe the scouts would have something he could use once they settled for the evening.
Looking back up, he looked over his companion to see if they were injured anywhere. They faced several of them at once; he didn't know if they came out unscathed. "Are you alright?"

This probably wasn't a good look. Either they'd think he was a serial killer—he wasn't anymore—or they'd think it was his. The dead bodies probably didn't help his situation.
"It's not mine," he mumbled, choosing to hope they would be worried for him rather than about him. He didn't need to scare them and make them think they were next.
To be fair, the now-dead people attacked first.

He turned his attention away from the dummy he was practicing on, adjusting his grip on the throwing knives so he could relax without cutting himself or his gloves. Cole was getting tired anyway, and welcomed the distraction. The dummy was also asking for a break, although it was happy to help if he wanted to keep going.
Head cocked, he offered a serene smile. "It says it likes to be cut and stabbed."
A perfectly normal thing to say without context.
