'My 404' - Party Nails
'My 404' - @partypartynails "Soaring synths & the breathy softness of Elana’s vocals... a rush of wanting to get to that point where another person inspires you to be the person you have always wished you could be." #My404 #newmusic
I am unsure where to place Party Nails, the moniker of Los Angeles based musician Elana Belle Carroll, in the spectrum of the music I know and am familiar with but for me it has echoes of Madi Diaz’s Phantom and Holly Conlan’s Sirens. The simple yet intricate song writing and the originality of the story pulls you in, along with music that takes you on its own journey.

NEW TRACKS: Coast Modern - “Dive”
I fall into the divisive camp of avid concert-goers who always make sure to catch the opener, and I reserve a big “In your FACE” for having discovered the slouchy bubblegum magic that is Coast Modern back in May of 2016 while catching BØRNS roll through 9:30 Club. From Coleman Trapp’s self-assured cool to Luke Atlas’ earnest energy (not to mention the fact that they tour with one of my favorite things, a female drummer!!), Coast Modern had me hooked on their laid-back groove, witty lyrics, and old-school-California-pop-meets-modern-day-beat-making-goodness. After an enthralling forty-five minute set, I was beyond frustrated to find out that they only had three singles released on Spotify. By the time I caught them again in October opening for The Temper Trap, they’d released another single, but no full-length album was in sight, and it’s still not, but I’ve been surviving on the occasionally dropped single.
Speaking of…
“Dive” was my favorite earworm from both times I’ve caught Coast Modern live, and I attempted (unsuccessfully) to make it a shower jam for a while, even without knowing almost any of the lyrics. I was surprised at how squeaky clean and bouncy the recorded version sounded versus the jangly rock I remembered, but I’ve adjusted. “Dive” is a fun, upbeat tune with a chorus fit for a rolling the windows down. I’m gonna blast it all summer long.
(Coast Modern, if you’re reading this, I’m really mad at you. So mad. I heard forty-five minutes of feel-good slacker magic and I need it back in my life. Release an album and let me buy your music! Kthx.)

On the verge of finishing up their debut album, Coast Modern played Portland for the first time on Monday. They have big plans to come and are definitely ones to keep an eye on.
