There's something watching the house. Collete thinks it's a... person maybe. An entity of some sort, something dark, like the demons her husband's always warning her about. It's like a shadow, a storm cloud, in the corner of her vision. Following wherever she goes. She knows there are demons, tangible and real demons, on this Earth. But she was a good girl, she'd grown into a good woman. She does not tamper in anything twisted, and she brought her husband to the light. Walking to church (Cain is at home tending the bees, he finds crowds uncomfortable) her neighbor who is not her neighbor approaches her. The woman says she is Abaddon, says she knows Colette may balk at her husband's past but there's some piece of her that's curious, isn't she? Abaddon shows up again, inside another woman from town, to ask how Colette likes being married to Cain--makes allusions to their shared history. Asks if he still moves just so, if he's as good as she remembers. Colette screams, throws rocks, tells the demon that her house is warded against such things. Abaddon asks if her house brings her pleasure. If it's enough to be the good woman that stands next to a good man. Abaddon asks if she wants a taste of what made Cain so powerful. All she has to do is take off the necklace Cain gave her, to protect her from evil he said. To protect you from knowledge, Abaddon says. From truly knowing him. Abaddon kisses her in her garden, and at first Collete stills. She shrinks away. But then, after weeks of silence, weeks of seeing the storm cloud out of the corner of her eye, Colette takes the charm off, breaks the circle of the warding at the doors, sits at her kitchen table, and waits.

YESSSSSSSSS. and then perhaps. gets her body stolen and used against her will 🥺?
