Been a couple of years since I last posted anything about my Coliseum teams - back pre-Hibernal when I was having fun raising up fandragon teams, such as Striders of Rohan (Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli of course), and Team Red (Spiderman, Deadpool, and Daredevil). Post-Hibernal almost all the fun dragons went off to snooze away their days, with the lone exception of my old Dragon Age fandragons, since there was just 4 of them remaining, 3 of whom (Fenris, SebastianVael, and Isabela) were a Coliseum team. And for the last couple of years, that team were my main dragons for Coliseum, with my progens available as Mire Flyers when I was doing any exalting.
A few months back I decided it was past time to level up a new Coliseum team from among my breeding pairs, to allow the Dragon Age collection to wander off and join the other fandragons in Hibernal. Seeing as I’m in Nature these days, and have loved tree dragons since the first time I saw one, I selected three of my oldest (and favourite) tree dragons; Cypress and her mate Aspen, plus Beauty. They became the Killer Trees team, and took over main Coliseum-grinding duty.
And then I decided to level some more teams; it was a way to make grinding for Coliseum-dropped genes and apparel slightly more entertaining, mostly, plus I still had stupid numbers of good battle stones hoarded away. So this led to:
Elders Outing - three of my lowest-ID dragons, two of whom were lying around waiting for a new breed to emerge, and have now been re-gened to Veilspun, which amuses me every time I load the trio and see all of them being ancient breeds now.
Oronte, Tindome, and Tsamma - a trio of butterfly dragons, Tindome and Tsamma have clutches in turn and between the three of them they cover most of the colour wheel in their secondary colours.
Moon and Suns - aka Moonshadow, Sundew, and Sundapple, another trio setup though in their case it’s the primary range that covers most of the wheel.
Hellacious - aka Hades, Persephone, and Kore, my most recent trio, who have a super-wide secondary between the three of them.
...and I’m now out of eliminates, hastes, and rallies, though still going strong on eveything else. I have a feeling that from now forward, any time I put together a trio of dragons, I’m just going to automatically start levelling them up as a new Coliseum team. Because I while I don’t need that many teams, especially when I keep giving them essentially the same stats, it’s something to do when I’m grinding stupid amounts of Coliseum anyway.
...I am having way too much fun setting up my potential Coliseum teams of assorted random dragons and (mostly Middle Earth) fandragons. A few of them are already partially levelled from back during the Training Fields revamp when I was running fandragons up to level 6 while grinding there, but many have never been played at all. I’d need a ridiculous number of eliminates to ever fully level all of them. As it is, I’m waiting on an eliminate to be able to continue levelling the Odd Squad (my random progen plus the two oldest dragons in my lair, Starburst and Hobbes).
Also, in re-reading the lists above, I have a sudden mighty need to rename ‘Gollum, Frodo, Samwise” to “Walked Into Mordor”. Because they did.
Been grinding the Volcanic Vents a bit for a combination of the new weathered scale armour, and chances at eliminate, python, and morph. So far have mostly gotten multiples of the toxophilite set, one piece of weathered... and an eliminate earlier today.
That’s at least finished giving the Odd Squad a full set of eliminates, and since they were at exactly the right level for it, I’ve swapped over to them to continue grinding in Vents, and will probably keep them there as long as they’re still getting experience from it, for all the same reasons mentioned above.
They’re named the Odd Squad since they’re a pretty random mix of dragons, starting with my Hobbes fandragon, who back in the day came already minorly levelled (iirc it was like 4 or 7, something low like that anyway) and has had occasional bits of levelling since, which left off with him at level 18 with reasonable battle stones.
Arak is my random progen, whom at one point I’d started powerlevelling as a caster/healer dragon (more to try out the brewed caster things on a dragon than anything else, really), before I gave up entirely on casters. He’d since been redone as a melee, and was also at level 18 with good stones.
Starburst is the lowest ID dragon in my lair. After finally getting around to levelling both the Striders of Rohan and Team Red to level 25 recently, I was looking around among my partially levelled dragons for who else actually had eliminate already, which came down to the two dragons already mentioned. So I selected Starburst as an excellent candidate among my keep forever dragons, threw her together with my two Mire Flyers, and let them powerlevel her to 18, after which I just had to wait for an eliminate to drop to fill out her set of battle stones too.
So at some point they’ll also be level 25, and hopefully by then I’ll have picked up enough eliminates to start levelling another of the fandragon groups. Because I am easily amused by things like themed fandragon teams.
My Dragon Age coliseum team has been doing a lot more grinding, and finally maxed out their levels the day before yesterday. Today they hit the Delta and managed to catch a fan scorpion after about 15 minutes of play. Way to go, team! On to Bamboo Falls for the next one!
I’ve set them up as a speed team; 123 str/63 qk. Works awesome in places like the Kelp Beds and Golem Workshop, where a scratch + rally eliminate will take anything out in two shots (well, anything except mantarunes and borers), and they’re getting in enough shots fast enough that with a little strategizing on target (always leave casters for last) they can kill off most sets of opponents without said opponents getting in shots on them. Really liking them as a farming team.
Please show me your healer/mage builds? I wanna build a new Coli team for farming with two fighters and a healer/mage but I'm not sure how to stat the healer (fighters will be stated after Culexs leveling guide) So please show me your healers/mages?
