Dead set on bugging in?

Want to try and make a home during the apocalypse?

I can definitely see the appeal! So as with everything else, preparation is key!

It's worth investigating your local area now and try to find local bee keepers and bee hives!

WSuk don't condone stealing! However, when SHTF is very probable they will not be around to use them!

Transportation of these are easy with a vehicle! Just wait until late evening or night when all the bees go in for the night. Plug the holes (usually an entrance and exit) and take them with you!

Remember to leave them in the hives for a week or so after moving so they don't get lost when you let them out.

While collecting them, try to find a smoker if you can. This will help loads when collecting that sweet sweet honey!

All you need to do is burn paper, card and other materials that create smoke (NOT PLASTIC)

Now! I don't have to tell you about the wonders of honey! But if I was to mention but a few, they would be..

• Food

• Wax for waterproofing

• Wax for candles

• Antiseptic balm for injuries

Bees are also super easy to keep. They pretty much look after themselves! But don't take all their food in the winter!

Need a lightweight, reliable melee weapon?? Then look no further!

I give you, The Baseball Bat!

An absolute classic melee weapon.

It's no frills, does the job, gives you adequate range and looks bad ass!

Zombies lurking? No problem.

Looters breaking in? It will trump any knife attack.

Bad guys got guns? Might be an issue.. pro tip.. rush them if you can and prey they can't spare the ammo..

Classic movies mods are nails and barbwire..

WSuk says this is pointless!

Nails and spikes will easily become stuck in your opponents head or body. This means it will take longer to remove and that could ultimately waste valuable time.

Barbwire.. well, what's the point? You don't want to scratch your enemies.. you want 100% blunt force trauma to the cranium region.

Any good sports shop will have grip tape for the handle and we advise wrapping insulation tape periodically around the wood to stop any spitting. Think shinty and curling sticks.

Heart set on driving around the wasteland?

Won't be seen dead all geared up and cycling a bike?

Walking? As if!

Then you should consider the following..

Obviously it would be sweet to just find some big ol' 4x4 and pimp it out like something from Mad Max. However, given they are already heavy and have little MPG value. Maybe you could choose smarter.

Although choosing your apocalypse car is like choosing a haircut, think about mpg, availability, parts, ect.

For example: The Ford Fiesta is by far the most common car in the UK at the moment. This means there are literally over 92,000 of them registered with the DVLA. That's equals lots of parts! Many of these are cross compatible with different age ranges and spare tyres will be fairly easy to come by.

They have pretty good MPG too. The tanks generally hold around 43 litters. That equates to just less than 10 gallons.

Not including excessive added weight. That means you can get anywhere between 300 - 400 miles sensible driving. (Sensible - not boy racer ST/RS driving)

The Fiesta is not the perfect vehicle and I'm not saying it is. It's definitely a contender in the running though.

Hopefully this information will highlight what you should look out for.

Motion Control is Ruining Video Games for Everyone

Before you jump down my throat about how great Wii Golf Resort Island Adventure is, understand that I appreciate the fallout of the vast expansion of the video game market that has occurred since the Wii's inception.  The introduction of essentially foreign opinions to a sometimes frustratingly impenetrable market breeds cool things sometimes. Motion control has challenged developers to reimagine how humans interact with machines and has transubstantiated video games as a medium from a possible culprit of the Columbine shootings to a catalyst for family togetherness.

All this being said, I fucking hate motion control and its repercussions on the economic and creative decisions of video game creators, developers, and marketers.

I spent most of yesterday watching coverage of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, CA; I came to the conclusion that motion control is to video games as 3D is to cinema. It has become a commercial crutch that allows companies to revel in a robber baron's paradise: the ability to charge more for a shoddier product gilded with gimmicks. Games that showcase motion control very rarely have any semblance of story and make use of noticeably raw graphics in order to devote processing power to the gimmick. The imaginative power of the video game medium is literally sacrificed to make room for novelty.

But novelty sells: these products are pretty much foisted upon consumers who might lack an intimate knowledge of developer quality but seek the social capital that video game possession yields (e.g. moms). Shitty games that sell inspire enterprising publishers to create even more terrible games infused with the corrosive novelty of motion control, and the Ourobouros cycle emerges. The video game industry, previously a bastion of compelling story and innovative art direction coupled with challenging gameplay, is hoisted by its own petard. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo still exist, but apparently only to tout their own motion control platforms and not to introduce original content.

I will not stoop to making the "hardcore vs. casual gamer" argument, because the foundation of that argument is solid bullshit. It assumes the needs or creative direction of the "hardcore" gaming demographic should be privileged over those of a consumer section that likes virtualizations of things they can feasibly do in real life; this assumption is terrible. The emergence of blockbuster franchises like Halo, Modern Warfare, Mass Effect, and Final Fantasy has crippled the imagination engine at the core of video games just as Just Dance has. The race to spawn fascinating facsimiles of these successful and occasionally great games has polluted the market just the same. That such a young medium is already reduced to aping its pantheon is an unfortunate product of our time-collapsing culture.
