Black-headed Collared Snake (Sibynophis melanocephalus), family Colubridae, Singapore

AKA Malayan Many-toothed or Malayan Hinge-toothed Snake.

Snakes in this genus have hinged teeth that help them feed on lizards with hard plate like scales, like skinks.

They are capable of detaching the end of the tail, like a lizard.

I found a tiny collared snake born this spring in the river today ! It's absurdly pretty, and I feel like people deserve to see this wee little babe is so I'm going to tag @snake-spotted ❤️

People say that our European snakes are drearily dull, drab and boring but I respectfully disagree.
