would like to apologise to everyone who thought “popty-ping” was the Welsh word for “microwave” - it’s “meicrodon” - for killing the fun, but to bring it back, the phrase “I like coffee” is “dwi’n hoffi coffi” which is cute on its own I think

#welsh stuff #the ‘w’ is like an ‘oo’ sound as in ‘book’ but shorter #the ‘i’ is like an ‘e’ as in ‘eagle’#sorry it’s really hard to find comparisons it is a completely different alphabet #say it fast you’ll be sound #the ‘o’s in hoffi and coffi are heavier when I say them but I know my Welsh with a valleys accent so it may be regional #‘i’ is a long e as in sleep or meet but not that long #also to note - I can read and pronounce Welsh easily. I cannot speak it beyond a basic level #there is a lot of history you can look up explaining why
