Grabbed this promo from my gig at KASR in the early 80s. Looks like Goo Goo Muck was what the program director wanted us to play. Wish I could unearth photos from that studio on University Drive in Tempe, AZ. @owlboychimp do you have any photos? #collegeradio #asu #cramps #kasr #playthegoodone #isanybodylistening (at Arizona State University) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDUgobMJie8/?igshid=19efxj9pvpljc

The First Half of the show
A Quick Introduction: I grew in a town called Trumbull CT, too many of you this town means nothing, it is just a blip on a map of a state where the taxes are too high and the people are too snooty for their own good. But for me, Trumbull was like a safety blanket from the neighboring towns like Monroe and Easton.
The Paranormal Dream Couple: Right next to me lived the famous paranormal couple Ed and Lorraine Warren and their museum of terrors that held so many cursed objects that even I, the creepiest kid around was too afraid to enter. But alas, the nightmare fueling museum is permanently closed and has been for a little while.
For those of you are unaware of who the Warrens are, then I can understand that a quick google search on your end would help out in your confusion, but if you are just as lazy as I am, then let me enlighten you. They were what the paranormal would fear, Ed a trained Demonologist that has been able to identify when a house is under the oppression of a demon and was able to assist in many haunting cases such as the Amityville Horror case in Long Island in the late 1970s. Ed was born in 1926 and Died in 2006.
Lorraine Warren was his wife was a well-known Clairvoyant that was both able to communicate with the dead and able to aid in all of the cases alongside Ed, the couple traveled around the world aiding people in cases where people were down on their luck and had to face the supernatural in terrifying cases. The two would go around and lecture at colleges across the country about the dangers of demons and ghosty activity. Sadly Lorraine Died in April of 2019. But the good news Tony Spera, their son-in-law still goes around lecture in the spirit of keeping the family business alive. I for one was lucky enough to see him with my father about 5 years ago at Fairfield University.
It was like stepping into another reality where all I could see was the terrors of twisted nightmares, demons, ghosts, and all of which that kept me in at night with the lights on came into reality and scarred me for life. It was at this moment where I could no longer ignore the terrors of the supernatural world.
Fairfield Hills State Hospital: The town of Newtown is one that when heard of envokes the feeling of tragedy over the recent shooting at Sandyhook elementary school, but that case is not the only negative event the haunts the town. The Fairfield Hills State Hospital has an aura that when drawn close enough you spine grows stiff with fear and your hair stands on end. The Hospital opened in 1931 to help out the overcrowding with other mental hospitals in the state. The Hospital consists of 16 buildings across about 800 acres, all of which are connected by an underground tunneling system.
As with other mental hospitals, it was known for the cruel treatment of the patients such as electric shock therapy, hydrotherapy, and much more cruel inhumane treatments. At the hospital’s peak, it was able to hold 5,000 patients comfortably within its walls, but there were rumors of overcrowding. Records have come out with mysterious deaths and gruesome suicides so that the patients were just to be able to leave the hospital walls, but sadly this is not a place that one was able to leave in life or death, for there is no escape.
With modern medicine prooving the hindrance of these sorts of mental institutions and lowing levels of occupancy, the hospital closed down in 1995, after only 64 years of service. But within that short period of time, the hell beast of a hospital left its mark. Over recent years the grounds have been renovated and converted into other facilities, some even saying that it is a pleasant family place. But once the sun sets, stay away, for hell is the only destination once the doors are opened.

EXECUTIVE STAFF SUMMER PICKS
Calvin Crunkleton, Music Director:
My song is "This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)" by the Talking Heads
I chose the song for a bunch of reasons, one is it reminds of my dad, he's really into new wave music and it was sorta this cool bonding thing between us. Another is its absurdist nature, it's a stream of consciousness lyrical style, which is my favorite way artists write their music. Finally, the song is just such a different sound than a lot of Talking Heads stuff, and it really shows the bands range and musical ability.
Jillian Yagoda, Program Director:
I’d probably pick “Borderline” by Tame Impala it’s an absolute banger and will probably be my most listened to song this summer.
Josh Schmidt, Video Team Manager:
“i used to” by imbi the girl ft. SUPERGO I’ve been loving this song this week because it has a fun beat. It’s about past struggles which is such a mood. This pride month I’ve been catching up on all the songs my trans and queer artists have put out this year! And this is one of them! Take a listen if you want to explore an artist and support the trans community!
Monique Wingo, News Director:
Beyoncé’s “Before I Let Go”— It’s a fresh remake of a classic hit for the culture! The song is too irresistible not to sing along with and the choreo is fun to try!
