it’s not your fault you don’t know about them, anon, because they are pretty obscure in our verse and (as far as we know) entirely nonexistent outside it! the three incest ships to which this post refers are:
wincest, or technically rather wincestiel, which is going on in the background throughout the verse but never comes up in the main fics because god forbid the kids ever, ever learn about it. not just that dean is fucking his brother, which is weird and horrifying to normal people: imagine poor ben and claire having all their emotions and then learning that their dads are totally doin’ it in the butt. and not just in a quirky stepsibs kind of way, no—dean is doing the nasty with claire’s father’s corpse as puppeteered by the same metaphysical wavelength that once piloted claire herself, a part of which remains inside her to this day. like, I spend a lot of time wanting to make sidebar jokes about wincestiel, but THEY CAN NEVER KNOW.
collinscest, namely haley collins and tommy collins of “wendigo” fame, who are currently running the salt round in colorado. the redux of to build a home is where we’re gonna explain how this happened, but basically the two of them—who we decided to declare twins because hahaha of course we did—sort of parentified themselves after their real parents were killed, both trying to look after their younger brother ben and keep the family afloat, so they became very reliant on each other on top of their already pretty strong twin bond. haley has come to terms with what she wants whereas tommy still struggles with the idea quite a lot, but they’re gradually working on making it an actual workable part of their lives together instead of basically killing each other with shame. obviously, they too need to keep this a secret, but they are both consenting adults and on as equal a footing as one could hope for given the circumstances.
campbellcest, meaning gwen campbell and christian campbell, who are only cousins and therefore legal in west virginia! I don’t think this one has made it onto the blog at all, even, but one of the stories that’s already been written for the to build a home redux involves a point during the season six timeline when gwen ends up at the salt round and she and tommy have a very circumspect discussion about family members and unorthodox ways to love them. sadly, because this verse sticks with spn canon through the end of s6, gwen and christian both die before their story is resolved, but we will be seeing more of them in flashback.
hilariously, as we were drafting the response to this ask, we remembered that we actually have a FOURTH incest ship which has not yet seen the light of day: you remember in cambion when jesse talks about killing taylor simms, the brothers’ “closest cousin”? yeah, well, for elias, that meant REALLY CLOSE. the two weren’t actually involved yet, but a tentative interest had been expressed by both parties, and they were working their way up to something maybe, except then the cambion happened and then taylor was dead. really, that was what finally tipped the scale in elias’s mind—not just that jesse actually did kill a human being, but that jesse took away elias’s chance to ever know what he and taylor could have been like together; that’s what was unforgivable for him.
as for the rest of our canon ships, we provided a brief listing of them a while back, but aside from the above it’s mainly just katie/emily and brigitta/ian (djinn who you will know more about when we post the only human redux). plus, obviously, the ot3 of our main characters. but the more we write the more side character feels we tend to accumulate, so who knows how many more may appear?
