Attended the Tech and Entertainment talk organised by @ga_singapore at #collision8 last week where industry leaders like Ashima Thomas and Dean Reinhard discussed the challenges and opportunities they faced with rise of new technology like Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality in the entertainment, advertising and gaming businesses. Ashima is the Chair of Asia VR association, CEO of Warrior9 - a leading local VR company and a rare woman in the animated VR industry. She shared Warrior9 latest VR experience “Oceans We made” and how they use VR to educate the public about the impact of plastics in our oceans Takeaways from the panel: - Hire theatre actors for Virtual Reality shoots because they can do everything in one take. - Headsets will get cheaper but is there enough content to engage the mass market? How can we hit critical mass for VR? - Singapore is an ideal test market for VR because of its size and adoption of technology - Now it is the best time to get into VR because we are at the very beginning where we are still figuring what to do with the technology and the barrier of entry is lower - monetisation is still difficult in the entertainment sector due to small market share - Are we getting closer to the Matrix? . . . . . . . . #virtualreality #VR #augmentedreality #AR #technology #techandentertainment #techtalk #techpanel #womenintech #virtualrealitytalk #womenintechnology #exploresingapore #exploresg #instasg #instagramsg #instasingapore #generalassembly #generalassembly2018 #generalassemblysg (at Collision 8)
