インターネット上の作品をどう保存していくのか，これから大きな問題なっていくだろう，という記事を読んだ．ネットって情報がいつまでもありそうだけど，どんどん環境そのものがアップデートしていくから，更新をやめた作品は環境から取り残されて機能しなくなっていく．自然はアップデートしないけど，ネットはアップデートする．この違いが，作品を保存することの意味を変えている．作品が成立した環境そのものをいつまでも保存することは不可能だけれども，それをやろうとしているのRhizomeの「Colloq」なんだろう．作品をその環境を含めて保存するツールとして開発されている「Colloq」．作品を残し続けることがいいことなのかも考える必要があるけれど，ネットアートの作品をいざ見ようとするとリンク切れだったり，作品がリンクに依存したものだとまったく機能しなくなっているのは悲しいから，保存しておいてほしいなとおも思う．そんなことを「Colloq」に関する記事を読んで思った．

ネットアートの「オリジナル」ってどこまでを含めるのだろうか？　環境まで含めるとしたら，相当大きな括りになるなと思いつつ，読んだ記事のなか「One version is the frozen original」というテキストがあって，これはリンクとか何やら壊れていても，とにかくそのままオリジナルは残しつづけるということ．「One version」とあることからもわかるように，今の環境で機能するように作品をアップデートすることもする．こうなるとどれがオリジナルということではなくなるから，作品のバージョン管理をすることになるのかな．作品のエディション管理ではなくて，バージョン管理をする時代になるということなのかな？

These are the types of questions that New York’s digital art nonprofit Rhizome is trying to answer in the development of Colloq, a new conservation tool that will help artists preserve social media projects not only by archiving them, but by replicating the exact look and layout of the sites used, and the interactions with other users.
