HATE Rex Harrison by all means but the bloody chemistry between him and Wilfrid Hyde White as Colonel Pickering and Henry Higgins was literally off the charts why are they so in love why are you serenading to Pickering about how you wish women were just men HE’S ON THE PHONE!!!
STOP RUNNING AFTER ELIZA AND LISTEN TO YOUR HEART HENRY HIGGINS!!! YOU AND PICKERING ARE MADE FOR EACH OTHER, DAMNIT!!!
I’m way too obsessed with this template
Headcanon: Colonel Pickering from Pygmalion is aromantic asexual!

You see, really and truly, apart from the things anyone can pick up (the dressing and the proper way of speaking, and so on), the difference between a lady and a flower girl is not how she behaves, but how she's treated. I shall always be a flower girl to Professor Higgins, because he always treats me as a flower girl, and always will; but I know I can be a lady to you, because you always treat me as a lady, and always will.
— Pygmalion (George Bernard Shaw)
i have a lot to say about higgins and eliza's dynamic and how it's nuanced but ultimately problematic but. i also think eliza could have murdered ol' henry and everyone would have covered for her. especially pickering. he could have walked in on eliza holding a bloody knife over higgins' bleeding corpse and he would have just gone "fair" and bought a new carpet without bloodstains
Just watched My Fair Lady the first time. Jeremy was soo young (but sadly he appeared not that often). Since I know you watched the movie (didn't you?), I wondered how you think about Pickering and Higgins
hey, thanks for this ask!! I LOVE My Fair Lady. The meet-cute between Pickering and Higgins was rather cute--they were both traveling to meet the other (without an invitation either way lol) and just happened to meet on that rainy night, thanks to Eliza! And just moved in together D:
Pickering made a good “Sweaterboy” figure for Higgins. He enjoyed Higgins showing off to him, he kept Higgins’s cruelty somewhat in check, and worked as a buffer between him and Eliza. Eliza is like a niece to them both, imo. I ship Pickering and Higgins, even though it didn’t last long because I think Pickering leaves in the end. I think Pickering gets fed up of Higgins’s childishness after Eliza runs away, and he is genuinely concerned for her and wants to find her, so he calls up his ex at Scotland Yard to help (and maybe he even gets back together with his ex). That’s when I think he leaves. They probably remain in contact somewhat as colleagues because of their shared field of phonetics and language.
