Why Colonel Slade’s Speech in Scent of a Woman Still Hits Hard Today🎬
Yeah. And I do have a taste for mega angst every now and again anyways haha. I mean in every fan fiction those two are stupid and in love with each other so really what do I have to complain about aha
Haha right? We are truly #blessed in this fandom. Two beautiful idiots to love and such beautiful writers to write about them. :D
yeah i know what you mean like i totally agree with you. i guess i've just read a few where it's like the entire plot is 'lew is being a horrible person' and Dick is a saint for putting up with it. I don't know maybe I'm just being pissy. and I totally get the incredibly smart but also lazy like I think of him as a Mycroft Holmes type of person sometimes. I guess what I'm trying to say is I want plot that's not just about Lew making Dick's life hard ya know
I definitely see what you’re saying! And considering how heavy the series is, I think it makes sense to have a preference toward their lives being easier in fic and for craving an exploration of happier themes.
That said, some people get more joy out of exploring the very real and valid ~darker sides of Nix, including his alcoholism and other vices. In real life, those are things that would make his life harder, and Dick’s life too. Those aren’t invalid characterizations either, imo. They’re supported by canon.
I guess what I’m saying is that I totally understand having a preference for a rosier outlook on a certain character’s personality, especially since fanfiction gives you a lot of leeway to ‘fix’ certain things in the source material. But just as some people like to fluffify canon, some people like to darken it up, and I think both are totally valid. It just depends on what people are more drawn to explore in their writing, and I don’t think one is inherently better than the other. It just comes down to personal preference!
oh that's so cool! i've been thinking a lot about my life and i'm just like i love history so much like i was writing political essays and most of it was in a historical viewpoint. I just think it's interesting to talk to people about it because everyone is like you can't do anything with it! I would really like to work in the smithsonian museums or the national holocaust museum ideally one day. :) I'm super excited now.
like if you really love it, why not. that’s why i did it. Like, yeah I might not get a job out of this degree but i’d rather spend all this money getting a degree in something that i love and am genuinely interested in than just some degree i hate to make some money
I am currently looking into getting into this summer program my school does where i could get a chance to intern at one of the Smithsonians so i’m really excited about that
hello sorry this is random but will you tell me about being a history major i'm thinking of switching to history and i want to know how you like/what you want to do with it. sorry if that's like anxiety inducing i'm just curious. Thanks!!! :)
Don’t worry, I’m always happy to help someone out
My specialization is in 20th century military history and I have plans to go to grad school and get my masters in public history. I really would like to work in a museum or something similar to one because not only have I always loved museums I do like the idea being able to educate people about history but the idea of becoming like a high school history teacher just sounds horrifying to me. also i just don’t think I have the right temperament to teach nonstop in a classroom setting when I don’t have as much flexibility in what I could teach
I can’t really describe why I love history so much but I just do and I always have. I love learning about a new event or period that might have preceded something I already knew and just seeing the puzzle pieces sort of coming together and realizing that y happened because of x and then z only happened because x happened. (idk if this even makes sense anymore, sorry)
I would just like to say that if you are considering switching to history get ready to read constantly and write papers constantly. I’ve probably had to write more papers than I’ve had to sit down and take exams. So if writing isn’t really your strong-suit, you may want to rethink it

First going to a since centre or a museum then having lunch, spend the after noon in a park or the woods then seeing a movie in the evening. If it’s too hot or too cold out going to a big mall instead of the park/woods
