so a while ago @colony-drop-program came up with this Sure redesign, which she named Solar.

and I'll be honest, I've always liked it. so last night i finally got the opportunity to ask Drop if it was okay if I adopted the Solar design, ad she agreed! :D

of course I wanted to try and give my own personal spin on the design, so this was born. I give you, Solar 2.0! (work in progress)

There's two main things I wanted to change, but keeping the design ideas.

Standardize the colors more to be in line with usual Sonic clothes, but keeping the multi colored part. Now she's watermelon themed! XD Wasn't intended but I'll take it. From there my other color choices were to try and balance out stuff.

while lining stuff for the recolor, I had a thought - Surge's quills sweep forwards/are sharp. So, what if Solar's are rounded and sweep backwards?

I do need to figure out if i want to give her some more rings on her right hand - the ring pops are amusing, i just left them out cause I have never tried one lmao. And i felt they were a bit like, outta place? idk why lol

oh and in my ideas for her, she's not quite a Surge redesign - rather, more a counterpart. Will depend on the AUs and such granted, but for now I won't spoil my thoughts.

this isn't necessarily the only change of course. any more will come in time as I put more thought into it.

I used to say ‘the Sonic fandom’s not that bad. It gets a bad rap, sure, but in my experience, they’re not a bad bunch.’

Can’t say that anymore. I’ve posted my reasoning and opinions on Disney classics, MCU films, and classical literature. And no matter how controversial my opinion, or how heated the debate on the post, never once have I been blocked or has the debate turned to messy insults.

But one post tagging Ian Flynn and calling the opposing side of the debate “wrong” and their objections “silly” and I got a hefty helping of each! 😂

Now, in my experience, I can only be correct by saying some of the Sonic fandom can’t handle being accused of anything as bad as “being wrong” or having “‘silly objections” or I guess at the worst, “misunderstanding a character/a concept.”

It’s not your fault, Sonic. Strong characterizations apparently invite strong opinions, and strong opinions apparently must get personal when mixed with tumblr! Anywho, for the tiny crowd who’s put up with my reblogs of the same, toxic-growing post the past few days, I think it’s cooled off, sorry bout that! 😅

(of course, I have this policy about not blocking people on the basis of disagreement alone, and I’m definitely also going to stick to my OTHER policy of saying the names of the people i’m alluding to, because to talk about somebody indirectly, even though everybody knows who you mean, without ever actually saying their name so you can ramble on with plausible deniability while avoiding having to be refuted by that person… is kind of cowardly. and I definitely am inviting those sonic fans to a civil rematch by saying their names. meaning they may come back. so if it gets toasty in here again…well, hit that unfollow button! ^^)

Pretty much. I decided to ask Stanley about some of the things she talked about, and a bit about Belle entirely. I feel that Stanley doesn't realize that what she said was a bit awkward, considering that the Metal Virus is 'grimdark' to the extreme.

What exactly has the comic been doing with Belle? I've heard that she's received a lot of focus, but has she gotten any character development at all?

As a fan of IDW Sonic who keeps reading the issues purely for analyzing the comic's issues (lmao) I want to say that no, she hasn't

You might remember my "IDW SONIC #44 SPOILERS" ask, in which I basically vented about the issues I had with the book's reveal of Belle's troubled past. One thing that I forgot to mention (and you have probably guessed already) is that it gets revealed by Belle herself through a three-page info-dump

Good job, Ian! Instead of actually trying to explore Windmill Village's animosity towards Belle and Belle's mental state in the wake of the Metal Virus crisis, we get hit by "yeah, villagers were angry with her lols"

Also, I will NEVER stop nitpicking the second panel of the first page. There is no fucking way she wouldn't want to protect her dad from Shadow during #6. She was right there

As for Belle during the Zeti Hunt arc overall... She literally spent #42, #43 and #44 being kidnapped by Starline and that's it.

I'm actually serious.

TL;DR No, she hasn't, because Belle's not an actual character. She's a relic of a plot device that was already too iffy and undercooked to begin with (read: Mr. Tinker) and now Ian (and by extension, the narrative) uses her as another chess piece on the board

Oh, it long since crossed the line when they Rombied Charmy and had Cream go through a Trauma Conga Line of having her pets be assimilated, then her mother, then herself getting assimilated.

What's the absolute coldest Sonic take you've seen on Twitter?

Anything before we got more info on Colours Ultimate. Goddamn, I thought people would realize that lighting and UI isn't that hard to fix up for Colours Ultimate, but some people immediately condemned Ultimate as 'another Sonic Adventure DX version' without even considering that it wouldn't be that hard to fix.

Some people just... just don't get game making.
