I used to say ‘the Sonic fandom’s not that bad. It gets a bad rap, sure, but in my experience, they’re not a bad bunch.’

Can’t say that anymore. I’ve posted my reasoning and opinions on Disney classics, MCU films, and classical literature. And no matter how controversial my opinion, or how heated the debate on the post, never once have I been blocked or has the debate turned to messy insults.

But one post tagging Ian Flynn and calling the opposing side of the debate “wrong” and their objections “silly” and I got a hefty helping of each! 😂

Now, in my experience, I can only be correct by saying some of the Sonic fandom can’t handle being accused of anything as bad as “being wrong” or having “‘silly objections” or I guess at the worst, “misunderstanding a character/a concept.”

It’s not your fault, Sonic. Strong characterizations apparently invite strong opinions, and strong opinions apparently must get personal when mixed with tumblr! Anywho, for the tiny crowd who’s put up with my reblogs of the same, toxic-growing post the past few days, I think it’s cooled off, sorry bout that! 😅

(of course, I have this policy about not blocking people on the basis of disagreement alone, and I’m definitely also going to stick to my OTHER policy of saying the names of the people i’m alluding to, because to talk about somebody indirectly, even though everybody knows who you mean, without ever actually saying their name so you can ramble on with plausible deniability while avoiding having to be refuted by that person… is kind of cowardly. and I definitely am inviting those sonic fans to a civil rematch by saying their names. meaning they may come back. so if it gets toasty in here again…well, hit that unfollow button! ^^)

Of the stories in the annual, I didn't expect the Jet one to be the most controversial lol

How about the Blaze & Knuckles one, that is literally nothing and reduces Blaze to "I must rely on friends"? The Cream one was fluff, I didn't even finish the Rough and Tangle one, and the Omega and Gemerl one was fine but I'm tired of Omega calling people "meatbags". The Espilver one was very cute and superbly drawn... Oddly shippy though.

Anyway, I'm glad that more people are coming forward with their grievances >:3c

Hmm. People are still trying to shut up the opposition, but I feel more and more people are talking about the comic now, and I hope the others start realizing it isn't good to worship somethign so... fallible.

Ah, so the Blaze one just reduces her to go about the same lessons she already learnt in Rush? I'm not surprised, considering.

I was surprised that the Rogues story was controversial as well, considering that Jet's not a well-liked character in the fandom (for good reasons, TBF to those who don't like him). But then again, propping up a character by making one of the main characters dumb as bricks in order to make them super special awesome would probably end up backfiring no matter the popularity of them, I guess.

Petition to stop having people make E-123 Omega the Knights of the Old Republic's HK-47, please. Omega never acted like the cast of characters were 'meatbags', and he's only violent towards Eggman robots, not living people.

So, remember when I praised TvTropes for being more neutral about IDW? Well, not only a person added "Sonic also lets enemies go in the games, like Metal Sonic, it just wasn't touched upon", but almost completely erased the summary of how hypocritical Sonic is because, quoting: "This entire entry is in complete bad faith and misses the point of what was being said". So yeah, nvm, still not a reliable source, sorry for giving them credit

It's alright. TV Tropes should be trying to be a neutral ground instead of being overtly positive with Sonic, but they aren't. Because they're all Flynn fanboys.

And I bet you ten to one that once the comic cancels due to low sales, they will never update it.

... There's still a part of me that's optimistic, hoping that they'll wake up and see what bullshit they're doing, but even I can't hold on to hope like that forever...
