I found a SHINY!!!
This is a natural mutation, growing in a protected but not landscaped area, among hundreds or thousands of ordinary yellow trout lilies.
Another piebald from a long time ago.
Albino Geoffrey’s tailless bat (Anoura geoffroyi)

Neat! I was recording this non-native little orange platyfish (I think) when another oddball stole the show! That salt-and-pepper fella is a melanistic male eastern mosquitofish, which is one of my favorite animal color mutations in the world. We’ve talked about them a little on this blog. You can also appreciate the more muted wild-type mosquitofish coloration (pale gray) in this video near the platy. Cool to catch all three at once!
Albino harbor seal (Phoca vitulina)

If you ever wondered what the best living vertebrate is, it’s the alligator gar in my totally not biased 100% scientifically backed opinion. They are just a flawless creature. Nothing wrong with them. Good tooth to snoot ratio, they have a winning smile.
They and other monster fish absolutely should NOT be in the hands of most private keepers at all and I do NOT support morph breeding of them because of that, but pretty fishy cute :c
do you know what the deal is with this weird squirrel? we have a lot of black squirrels in the park nearby but ive never seen one like this before. symmetrical pattern, its other side looked the same.
Eastern grey squirrels are funky! Here are oddly colored individuals on my favorite iNaturalist group, they seem to be the most commonly reported species. Melanistic ones don’t always come in pure black, they can be very interesting like the one you saw!
