I'm so sorry I left this sitting for a few days. I didn't even need the time to think of an answer, I'm just forgetful! 🙃
OK so the obvious answer here is. uh. tying-up / tied-up scenes. There's no denying it. 😅
BUT as I'm writing TPOT and Book 1 (in all its non-whumpy glory), I've also realized I enjoy:
really fkn awkward attempts at flirting, or just general conversation, between awkward characters (waves at 2 particular OCs from Book 1)
snarky banter (hilarious bc I'm NOT known for this IRL)
oh and not really a type of scene, but coming up with Hatchett's mean insults for the people around him also brings me great joy.
snow scenes. this one is mostly a joke....but I keep writing them. *stares gloomily out the window at the concrete metropolitan wasteland beyond, no snow in sight😭*

Leather Jacket Black: Anything you think I left off!
uhhhhh hhhnnghh idk mate? Here’s a recent oss snippet I like idk:
“... You… can’t see the fort? It’s not a tree. It’s square and blocky with doors and--Ah-ck, ow, mierda!” She took a step back, wincing, shoulders tense. I cocked my head, confusion and concern leaving me with a soft frown.
“Is… is everythin’ alright?”
“Yes, I just… ugh. Have a headache, now.” A hand to her temple, her eye slipped up to me, a smirk nonetheless lighting across her face. “Probably from your annoying chatter, is all.”
“Aw, Celestine. That ain’t nice.”
“Neither is your face.”
In which Celestine gets a headache, which, spoiler alert, is actually a very BAD THING.

Thank youuu!! From this ask game.
Brick Red: Which character gets the happiest ending? 🥺
EVERYONE!
ok well I know who DOESN'T get the happiest ending and their initials are BH.
I really want to say Jamie bc lbr he's gonna be ok and get his bro back and live to a ripe old age by the sea with Geoff by his side. 💘💘💘
Adding a cut bc length, not for anything scary.
Forest Green: What’s your favourite genre to write?

I love magic. I love fantasy tropes. I love that you can throw people in dungeons willy-nilly in fantasy stories and no one bats an eye. Oops, I mean, uh, I like pretty costumes and weird names and diverse ethereal landscapes and—
Blood Red: Favourite piece of dialogue from your wip
Wow. Way to make me work for it. Also, I couldn't pick just one, so I did one for each character except Will who gets two..
If any of these seem like weird choices...idk, I love snark and sass and drama. I also like dialogue that give you a god sense of the op's characterization—personality, values, temperament, role in the story, etc.
And with Bree in particular, she actually has a surprising dearth of spoken lines so far, compared to the other characters? That will change as her story entwines with Will's, but... Anyway, here you go.
Will: “Technically, you told me to wake up, and I have done that now. So fuck off.”
Also Will: “You’ve already done this one. Only it was worse last time. Remember? With the crank and the pulling and the, you know, all that? It’s like you’re not even trying today.”
Colette: “Okay, Muscles. You can let her go now.”
Bree: “Maybe you shouldn’t wear your purse hanging off your ass if you don’t fucking want people reaching in.”
Hatchett: “I can do as I please. I will do as I please. How else will the miserable wretches of this town learn the meaning of the law if they don’t have an example to look to?”
BONUS quote (from the next chapter...guess the character): “You think you can give me orders? Make demands? Me? You think you have any right? Any authority? Any claim to my mercy and good will?”

The Prince of Thieves: Oh man it's gotta be Will, followed by Colette. But I like all my good guys. A snarky bro with a good heart, too impulsive for his own good, courage in the face of danger, and just enough of a self-sacrificing streak to make a gal swoon.
Bonus answer for [non-whump Nano project] Book 1 (I can't even use the working title because it abbreviates to F&F just like Fen and Freddie but they are entirely separate things): A nerdy glasses-wearing tutor with a thing for history and abysmal social skills (and a healthy dose of social anxiety) who will get closer to the main protagonist over the course of the three books. Sometimes I just read over his chapters and giggle because I LOVE HIM.
Daffodil Yellow: Does worldbuilding come easily to you?
NO. Not even a little bit. With The Prince of Thieves, I purposely set it in a world that mirrors ours (even if it doesn't match exactly) so I only needed to sort out little details.
If you read over The Curiosity Collector, for example, you'll find the world building extremely sketchy. Don't ask me anything about how the witch magic works or the social structure of the covens. Hell if I know.
It's just such a long and arduous process for me!
(To prep for Nano, I did a big world building exercise for Book 1. And I really found it to be a slog.)

[Colourful Writeblr Asks]
Ohhh, yeah that is true, isn’t it? It’s already been the source of a little bit of confusion. ^^’
Thank you for the ask!!
Forest Green: Of your main five characters, who is a tea, coffee, water or soda person?
Ooohhhhhh this is a fun question!!!
Colin can’t drink anything caffeinated because it actually immediately makes him want to fall asleep. Don’t ask me how, this is based exactly on what happens to me. He absolutely loves herbal teas, though! The nice smell, the soft colours and the healing properties to a lot of them? Plus, he grew up with a lot of herbal teas related to his culture!
Dione would also be herbal teas because she’s the witchy plant nerd buuuut unfortunately she currently can’t drink anything oh well.
Celestine currently can’t drink anything other than seawater for uh. Reasons. I feel like she would be a coffee person if this wasn’t the case and she wasn’t terrified of water.
Phoenix is your classic English teas lady because that’s what she grew up with! Which is hilarious because it completely clashes with her aesthetic.

Bubblegum Pink: If you could only write one genre for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Answered here!
Strawberry Pink: Ship trope you have in your book
Yeah I’ve finally determined that I do indeed have Enemies to Lovers, but it’s with an entirely different set of characters with one who doesn’t technically show up until the third book so... uh. Yeah!
Dusty Rose: Your personal favourite character in your wip
I have serious problems with choosing favourites among my own cast. It just happens.
It’s Captain Xuân. Although Sindre is getting fairly close!
Blood Red: Favourite piece of dialogue from your wip
Already answered here, but uhhhh, you know what. Heck to it all have some severe spoiler material from book two~ (Just dialogue because I can’t give away everything.)
“Just what are you doing?”
“Be quiet.”
“Ah, so you think they simply got up and walked away?”
“They’re here, somewhere. Hiding. Cowards.”
“Rose, do you not remember? Sirens do not have legs.”
“I don’t recall thinking humans could use magic, either… But you just love to prove me wrong, don’t you, princess?”
Aside from high energy action-y emotional scenes, and fluffy humour scenes, I really enjoy writing suspense-filled or tense scenes leading up to those action-y scenes! That’s a lot of ‘scenes’...
