Doing neat colourwork/intarsia. There is always a lot of discussion about the "right" way to carry your wool on the back of the work, whether you are knitting in the round or on the flat. So I have done a lot of reading and comparing and give you the photos above so you can decide for yourself which is the best method for you. Speaking only for myself, any "float" longer than 1 stitch is too long for my liking and will get snagged at some point. I've included some pics of what happens when your floats are too long and sag from wear. Anything claiming to be a "quick" or "easy" method is likely to rely on floats rather than weaving, shown in the top left, which does what it says - weaves the threads together as you go. Yes it is slower but once I made the switch, I never went back to floats. They just look too messy to me. But some people can do them beautifully, so, as I said, choose the method that suits your work best. Happy knitting.
