I haaaaaaate comcast!

they have the monopoly on my new neighborhood and I loathe them... I got the x1 package with which I'm able to watch "thousands of shows on-demand." wrong. let's look at "teen wolf" for example. it's a guilty pleasure of mine. we've entered week four of the final season - and if I want to watch it, I must watch it live. now, I'm much older than some of you wipper-snappers and staying up til 11 pm is out the question. if I try to watch it on-demand, it tells me to upgrade me subscription. they don't believe in dvr's. and they aren't compatible with the mtv app. bullshit. another example: "the good place." it's on a network! and same thing with on-demand - I must upgrade my subscription to watch it. but i can watch it on hulu? my mom, with a vcr can still record it! and I can't watch it with my expensive box. so I'm paying $90 a month (before the bullshit extra fees) to watch something on an $8/month app. anybody have a uverse email login I can borrow to watch it on the mtv app?

I’m a little giddy because I just learned that Google Fiber is expanding to Atlanta to save us from those monopolistic Comcast bastards. Faster, cheaper internets on the way.

my roommate on the phone: hi, so our internet isn't working and I've reset the router multiple times, and the wifi shows up, but nothing is loading and it isn't actually working.

customer care assistant: so what I'm gathering is that you're having troubles with your wifi connection?

Needless to say the rest of the conversation followed in a similar fashion.

We have internet. After a dozen calls we finally straightened out the account (I've seriously lost track of how many things they'd fucked up, including thewanderingcelt's last name, in the course of this service transfer) and fixed the fucking modem on our own.

There's a fiber company expanding into our new neighborhood next year. We'll print out the final bill and film ourselves burning it. And tweet it to Comcast.

But in other news we are NEVER PAYING RENT AGAIN OMG. Saving over $200/month for the same sq footage and we have a fenced backyard and a garage and a shed and a rain barrel and QUIET.

Just wanted to drop a quick note letting you guys know that I'm really sorry I haven't been answering your asks over the last few days. I'm not ignoring you because I want to. I'm this close to being out of data for the month, so I'm having to use it very sparingly, which honestly has been killing me (on the plus side, I've been able to catch up on my reading, so yay for that). Anywho, I'll probably be MIA for a couple more days and then I promise I'll be right back answering your asks again. I miss talking to you guys!
