IRS Free Online Tax Preparation Feedback Survey

For anyone in the US, the IRS just dropped a survey asking if people would like to file for free. People should take the survey!

this is quick and it is simple, and it looks like something the IRS is putting out so they can say "see, the public wants a free, easy tax filing service! please give us funding for this!"

the questions are basically "if you could file your taxes easily for free online, would you? would you rather do it with the IRS or with a private company? are you ok with the IRS spending $20 on processing your return (you still pay nothing, it is still free)?"

basically they're asking "do you want us to spend your tax dollars on making it easy for you to file your taxes for free?"

Immediate warning to yarn users!

Knitpicks has recently been sending out yarn infested with carpet beetles. Apparently one of their warehouses has an active infestation.

They have shut the warehouse down for now, but if you have recent yarn from them in your stash in may be infested!

Knitpicks is not currently informing their customer base of this issue (pretty standard for them, unfortunately), so word of mouth is necessary.

Not seeing anyone talk about it, so Greta Thunberg and three other activists on the Madleen have been released by Israel. I can't find the names of the others who accepted deportation, but Greta Thunberg is back in France.

Rima Hassan, a French member of the European Parliament who was also onboard the Madleen, has refused deportation along with the other 7 remaining passengers. She specifically said that she refused to sign a document stating she had entered Israeli waters illegally. She and the other seven passengers will face an Israeli court this week. They are in danger. Spread the word.

It's important to note that the group discussed who was going to sign the papers to accept deportation, and who was going to stay and be detained. They made these choices based on who wanted to be visible and communicate with the world about what had happened, and who wanted to stay behind holding fast to the fact that they did *nothing* wrong.

These activists are being very purposeful. Greta was not deported because she's giving up, and neither were the other 3 who were deported. If all 12 of them had stayed to be detained, they wouldn't be able to talk about their experiences on the Madleen with anywhere near as much coverage. Greta, Baptiste Andre, Sergio Toribio, and Omar Faiad will likely make some sort of statement in the coming days/weeks.

Working with Yuri, you get used to a few things, chief among these are high school romances between cute characters who with arms so thin that could not hold up a meaningful romantic and sexual partnership if they tried. But just as you come to accept that these tropes are going nowhere and begin to settle into your life of false contentment a work like SHWD breaks through your front door, interrupting you tattooing “but we’re both girls” across your knuckles and throws you out the window of a 14th-floor studio apartment.

SHWD is a Yuri manga by Sono set in a fictional modern world in which employees of Special Hazardous Waste Disposal (SHWD) hunt and destroy Dynamis, organic anti-human weapons developed in an unexplained war. Sawada is one of the few women working for SHWD, and the only one in her office. However, she is joined by new hire Koga. The story follows them through training and their first mission together disposing of a dynamis.

The manga is exciting and action-filled, which is unfortunately rare in Yuri. Rarer still is how well executed the action elements are. The pacing feels great and it Sono gives the reader enough information to understand what is going on without spending unnecessary time world building or introducing extraneous characters. There is room for such frivolous elements in future issues. It is focused and clearly told, never striving to do too much.

Seems to have a lot of names. And now I'm going to make a poll with a bunch of the names I've heard this dish called.

I am already 100% certain that this will be one of those "OP is about to find out their experience isn't universal" polls.

In fact, what I call this *isn't even listed in the Wikipedia article about this dish*.

I'm starting to believe that it what I call it is a regionalism so narrow in both place and time that the only other people who call it what I call it went to sleepaway camp in the Berkshire Mountains in the early 1980s.
