       ‘ are you, ah-- mee-kah, my-kah-- the comeaux kid? with the camera? ’ 

tommy had called earlier about some pictures-- some killer had been at the event this kid had been taking pictures of for... some shitty local newspaper or whatever. it doesn’t matter. 

they’d caught sight of him ( the kid ) on cctv taking pictures in the general vicinity of her ( the suspect ) and now tommy’s been sent all this way just to check if he ( again, the kid ) has anything even remotely useful. he isn’t entirely sure it won’t be a big waste of time.

Emily was certain she had lost track of time. She couldn’t be sure how long they had been there, after long enough at base you began to measure time no longer in days, but minutes.

minutes that stretched into endless, ceaseless time where nothing existed except for the explosions. 

Those you would count in seconds, try and determine how close. Like kids did with lightening, only this counting had a body count.

Exhaustion weighed on her as she stepped into the building, where she had fastened her own darkroom, attempted to give herself some normality.

And though she had heard there would be a new photographer coming, she hadn’t expected it so soon, the presence of another person made her jump. She was used to a certain amount of isolation.

“ Oh, goodness you scared me, nobody said you already arrived! ”
