Late-Night Pig Out at BIG D'S SMOKEHOUSE

A couple of weeks ago, some co-foodies and I were at Big D’s Smokehouse in Eastwood for a bloggers’ pig out. It was Thursday night, the time was around 10:00 PM, and the place was jam-packed with seemingly happy customers.

For the first part of our eating sesh, the restaurant's owner Chef Dino (also known as Big D) gave us yummy appetizers. Afterwards, the pleasant chef served mouthwatering entrées!

Startup Nachos with Pulled Pork - Php250 Light and crispy chips topped with pulled pork, salsa and cheese sauce

Hush Puppies - Php175 A combo of cheddar, mozzarella and parmesan cheese with roasted pimientos, deep-fried and served with garlic ranch dip

Twice Fried Ribs - Php495 (full slab) Big D's take on Crispy Pata

Smoked Soft Bone Ribs - Php495 (full slab) Tender slab of rib, dry rubbed and basted in BBQ sauce

Chicken Fried Steak - Php240 Seasoned chicken breast fillet, deep fried and served with veggies and mashed potato

Garlic Rice - Php50

Big D's soon-to-be-released dish! There's no name for it yet. :)

Chef Dino told us that Big D's uses rib slabs sourced from the US. That pretty much explains the reason behind the meat's divine tenderness.

Each of the dishes we had was very satisfying. What I liked the most was the Twice Fried Ribs, which tasted so good when dipped in vinegar. I recommend pairing it with garlic rice. For the starters, it was the nachos that got me hooked.

Capping off our night was the Comedy Cartel filling our tummies with laughter! It was totally a night to remember!

Miguel of Comedy Cartel had everyone laughing with his funny speeches. He's actually the husband of a co-blogger, Alaine of migsandalaine.

Though a bit small, the place feels cozy. I love the American vibe its interior has.

Everything considered, Big D's Smokehouse is definitely worth a visit! For me, this restaurant is one of the best in Eastwood when it comes to Southern US cuisine. If you're planning to have a get-together with your family or friends, put Big D's on your list. I'm sure you're gonna love this little smokehouse!

Some Shameless Self-Promotion...

.:New Article Up:. As an April Fool's thing, here's my article about Herbert Bautista on the POC. Hope you like it. .:Monday's Double-Header:. 30 Days Of Music (6/30), And Shows You MUSTCatch This Week...

.:Day 6/30 Of 30 Days Of Music: A Song That Reminds Me Of Somewhere:. There are places I remember, all the time... though some have changed. Well, that song in particular doesn’t conjure up actual places for me, really, but I can think of quite a few songs that I’ve eternally associated with places already. Just because I wanted some K-Pop here, let’s have a song that reminds me of PETA Theater because I infamously danced the steps to this song when we were performing there. I hope you like the rock version of the song, though.

See, now that Alchemy is closing down, and our last ever standup comedy night is happening tomorrow over there at around 10PM, I guess it’d be nice to reminisce about that place by thinking of some of the songs I’ll forever associate with that venue, thanks to Melomanila’s music...

That’s a song that I first ever heard from Melomanila. It’s definitely an instant favourite in my heart. Now, just because I’m such a mark for the Itchyworms, here’s another song that reminds me of Alchemy because I like singing it there (Aside from S2pid Luv, which I sing everywhere.)...

Kel and Jay are back for their annual fundraiser show, and like always, we're pulling out all the stops as we conquer Votre Bar along with Comedy Cartel's Richie Fernandez and GB Labrador, and world-class ventriloquist and Talentadong Pinoy's second hall of famer, Wanlu and his puppets! Yet another night of laughs and gasps, as can be expected only from an ensemble cast like this!

It's happening this December 3, 8:30PM, in Votre Bar, corner ABS-CBN, right beside East of St. Louis.
